First but not the last!

Sail Date: January 2011
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

Never having been on a cruise before we relied on the Travel Agent to recommend one. Having studied the brochures and the Trip Advisor reviews we agreed on Celebrity Eclipse for just 7 Nights (just in case we didn't like it!). The travel arrangements from N Ireland were excellent with Virgin Atlantic, a pre cruise night in Miami and 3 night stay post cruise.

We really did not know what to expect and were amazed at the reception, boarding and accommodation which awaited us. Our agent had recommended AQUA Class and it was a great choice.

The ship is truly amazing! Beautifully finished to a high standard and so well thought out. With lounges and seating areas in so many locations there was never a "crowded" feeling. the selection of entertainment throughout the various lounges was great and surely no one could have been disappointed (from String Quartet to Jazz!) The Main Theatre presented excellent shows every night.

Dining was the nicest experience of all! More Since we travel regularly to France and Italy we were not particularly drawn to some of the speciality restaurants, although we can imagine they would have been good. With Aqua class we had access to the BLU restaurant which , on this cruise had begun serving evening meals. Once there we just did not want to go anywhere else! The meals, and service were wonderful with different choice of menu each night. We were made to feel so welcome and staff were friendly, relaxed and helpful. Breakfast was also a treat! Nothing was a problem for them and they would accommodate your individual taste if necessary.

It was lovely having your stateroom prepared so meticulously. Spotlessly clean and thoughtfully supplied each day.

We went ashore at each of the ports of call i.e. Grand Cayman , Cozumel, Costa Mayo and Roatan. It was interesting but not particularly so. We didn't take any of the excursions due to our age and health conditions so cannot comment on them.

All in all, a truly wonderful experience. Thank you Celebrity Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Eclipse 1523

Very pleased with space, facilities and standard. We selected the forward section on deck 11 and it was an excellent choice. It was away from the main dining and bar areas and quiet. But still convenient to all facilities. balcony was adequate for a cruise and you must remember that it is a ship!(space is not limitless!)

Port and Shore Excursions

Not greatly impressed. Obviously geared to the tourist. but perhaps you need to try the excursions

enjoyed trip ashore in the Tender! Not greatly impressed with the town. The big attraction was supposed to be "Diamonds". There were certainly plenty of them about but did not see any great bargains. We didn't go on any excursions so perhaps missed the best bits.
