Progreso has some shopping at the pier and a free shuttle to town. When you first get off the shuttle, there are many people to offer tours. Mario with AutoProgreso Tours was awesome. It was the same tour offered on the boat for at least half the price. In my experience, this is a reputable company. The little shopping market here is neat and the prices are fantastic. Much better than at Cozumel. I wasn't sure where to catch the little town tour bus that everyone talked about that you can do for $3 but it was right outside the market where the shuttles dropped you off. Some in my group paid $10 for a bus to take them to a "private beach without seaweed, cleaner with amenities", etc. at a resort called Slicer. It was a rip off. The beach area was tiny, dirty, with only about a total of 10 beach chairs. The pool was dirty. The bar served watery drinks. They did have decent bathrooms and good massages for $20. The public beach would probably have been better. The port itself was interesting to see and I do recommend seeing it. More authentic Mexico. 


Progreso

We docked at Puerta Maya which has some nice shopping in its own right but if you want to get better prices, take a $7 taxi ride to the middle of town and go down the side streets where smaller vendors are anxious to bargain. You can also rent a jeep for $65 for the day and tour around the island. Some in my group did this and had a very good time. My family took a $13 taxi ride for a group of 4 to Paradise Beach. We have been there before but they have made many major improvements. A brand new pool opened in December 2010 and it is incredibly beautiful with a cool looking hut type bar right in the middle of it. They have also added many new water toys. My two teenage kids loved every minute of it and did not want to leave. The food and drinks are very good and reasonably priced. They also offer massages, henna tattoos, parasailing, and jet skis for a fee. No entrance fee but if you want to use the water toys, it costs $12 for the day. The changing rooms and bathrooms were nice and clean. They also provide showers. Very nice place. Highly recommend. 


Cozumel

Great space. Had two nice portholes for the price of an inside cabin. Front of ship but not too much movement or noise. Nice.

It had every element every other ship has and if you go expecting to have a good time, you will.DINING: The South Beach buffet on the Lido deck was nothing to speak of but it was only one of many good choices.
