My husband and I were very disappointed with our recent 7 night cruise on Crown Princess. I have cruised eight times on three major cruise lines. This was my second Princess cruise. I thought our last Princess cruise was exceptional. Crown Princess was a hug let down. Service in the dining rooms was appalling. We had one really good waiter in the main dining room. Once we sat there for 20 minutes at a table for two while the waiter kept waiting on other people and even told us that he had to "take care of the bigger tables first". We finally left and went to the buffet instead of waiting any more. The service in the buffet areas was better. The bartenders were rude and inattentive. We went to Vines several times and service there was not any better. We went to the Crown Grill specialty dining room on the first day. Service was okay except that the waiter lied to us when we asked if there was a more extensive wine list. I also asked if there was a surf -and-turf option and was told no. Later we heard from other guests that we could have ordered that.

We had a really bad excursion that booked through Princess. A representative at the pursers desk was helpful initially and indicated that we would be contacted. However, no one ever got back to us about the issue and we were not compensated in any way for the horrible, unsafe excursion experience. The tender experience at Princess Cays was so poorly run that we ended up not going to the island for the day; after we waited for over an hour for a tender ticket we gave up. At least that was the one day that the pool was not crowded. There is a serious shortage of bathrooms on this ship. For example, having only three toilets outside the auditorium that holds 1000 people is ridiculous - and almost every day at least one of the toilets was not operational. And it was disturbing how often there was not soap in the bathroom dispensers. The auditorium was entirely too small for the number of passengers. You had to go at least 30 minutes before the 8:30 show to get a seat.

One last very annoying thing was that we were offered ship board credit for my husband's military service. He faxed the information in three times before we left and had to keep calling before the cruise. Luckily we brought the print out and had names of all the people we spoke to about it before the cruise. We had to keep going back go to the purser's desk throughout the week because it was not on our account. They kept telling us to come back the next day to check on it. It was ridiculous and really stressed me out. It wasn't really even worth the $100 for all the hassle.
