As a Tour Director who brings large groups of (mostly) seniors on cruises, I have to admit I was slightly concerned about some of the comments I'd read and heard about service on the Pride of America. I've had several extremely successful cruises on NCL, and my experience on the Jewel last spring was exceptional; it was, by far, the best cruise I've ever taken.

My concerns were totally allayed the very first night on the ship, when I saw that the new Hotel Director was John O'Hara. John is one of the finest people I know, and an extraordinary Hotel Director. We got to know one another on the Jewel, and I found him to be kind, compassionate and totally accessible to both his crew and passengers. His attention to detail is superb, and his staff blossoms under his expert and caring tutelage. Any and all problems, minor and major, are dealt with immediately, calmly and with no drama. I knew my group was in excellent hands, and I was right. Although we had no problems whatsoever with the service, I know it will only get better. John truly will put the pride back in the Pride of America.

I was also thrilled to find that comedian Tim Kaminski was the featured entertainment. I have never known another shipboard entertainer who spends so much of his personal time interacting with the passengers. My group was excited and flattered that he attended our cocktail parties, joined us for drinks and meals and always remembered who they were wherever they were on the ship. Tim is truly NCL's Ambassador of the Seas.
