The Good: Entertainment, Ship , food with limits, service with limits
The Bad: Cabin arrangement, service flexibility and the Atlantis Shore Excursion
Entertainment: Some of the best we have seen aboard ship. Street Talk Comedy was entertaining, fairly clean and much like “What’s my line?”, THE BLUE MEN- was not really my thing, but parts were funny and the comments they posted throughout the show were great. The Cirque Dreams and Dinner were Great, a must see. The theme was stupid, but the performers were absolutely amazing. Movies were available in room-10.00 each. There were movies shown on the atrium big screen that were free.
Ship- Nice and Large. Casino, shops, two main dining rooms, a buffet up on the pool deck-Garden café, a 24 hour pub in the Casino area, and room service was quite descent. 24 hr Pizza for 5.00 per. Several up charge restaurants. We tried Tepenyaki- a Japanese steak house. It was a lot of food and the cook was quite entertaining. Don’t know about the others. Water park area was fun. Gym was great! Spa looked nice but I did not check it out.
Food: The selections were not all that varied from one night to the next, but the food we had was good. Deserts were not all that remarkable, but that was good for me. The Garden café had a nice breakfast and lunch variety so we ate there most days for breakfast and lunch. Loved the fresh fruits and salads that were available. Nothing outstanding to mention, but nothing that was really bad either.
Service: Good as long as you did not need any special attention. It took an hour to get a bucket of ice for the room one afternoon after the rooms were cleaned. Cannot expect a steward to be around except for the morning cleaning and the evening turndown. Guest services were good to tell you that things would be updated on your account, but the updating was extremely slow, especially when it came to on-board credit. If you are getting the complimentary wine, be aware that as long as you drink dry red or dry white you are fine. We, however do not, we drink only semi-sweet and sweet wines. It was crazy trying to get them to either take the wine back or give us something we do drink. In the end they finally did exchange it for white Zin. But what an ordeal! Service in the garden Café was better than usual for that type of arrangement. The workers were very attentive to the guest needs. They were very helpful and friendly.
Cabin Arrangement: WAS HIDEOUS! Bathroom was spread out at the entrance and took up way too much cabin space. It was quite fun to be in the shower when someone wanted to go out the door! No privacy at all and it was very noisy. Bed was really comfortable, but set only a few inches from the cabinets at the end of the bed so walking back and forth was often obstructed. It did not matter where you were in the cabin you always needed to get to the other side or where the other person was. Terrible arrangement! Will not cruise the EPIC again because of this alone!ALSO Cabin had ventilation issues. Some how cigarette smoke was beginning pumped into the room in the evenings for 2-3 hours. We reported it and they would clean the room the next day, but the issues was ventilation and they never did find out what was causing the problem
Shore excursions: BE totally aware of the HYPE for Atlantis. Billed as a 6 hour excursion. Your are doing good if you get even 3 hours. If you do the dolphin activity as well, it will be just about all you can do. In my opinion it was a total waste of money!
St Maarten: Loved the port . very sunny and warm. Descent beaches. I did a two tank dive and can say that the operator was very safety conscious and attentive. Worked with each diver to ensure they had the needed gear and that things fit well. Boat was a little old, but well cared for. Shopping was nothing special, but not bad.
St. Thomas: Another great port for sun and sea. Felt the shopping was highly overrated but others might have loved it. We did the BOSS excursion and thought it was FANTASTIC! I highly recommend it for the water enthusiast. It was a unique adventure an d the area we went to visit was not crowded . It also included about an hour of snorkeling afterward.
NASSAU: really can’t say what this port was like. We did the Atlantis dolphin Swim and Aquaventure. We were very hyped about this excursion and it was a total waste. It was billed at a full 6 hour excursion. They too over an hour to get us off the boat, tagged and over to Atlantis. Then there was another 20 min walk around and the our Dolphin swim was less than an hour after that. The Dolphin swim took about 1hr and 15min. for about 30 min in the water. Then the park started closing down around 5 so there was less than an hour afterward to enjoy the water park. Nevermind that you had to walk about 10-15 min to get from the dolphin area to everything else and some things were even further away. HUGE WASTE unless you really want to swim with the dolphins. That part was good, but not worth 650.00 for the two of us.
