Our family flew in from several different parts of the country to take our first cruise. We arrived at the embarkation area at 2:00 p.m. and found getting aboard the boat a breeze. Our room was ready when we arrived and it took less than an hour for our luggage to show up at our doors. We went to the Lido deck and found plenty of seats, got drinks and watched the departure. It was lovely. I thought the ship was very clean, staff attentive for the most part and most accomodating. The food was pretty good, promptly served and attractively presented in the main dining room. One of our family members is allergic to seafood and she found the choices for her fairly limited and not particularly tasty. The Lido deck food area serves food that caters to many tastes and is also better than average. I did not find that the lines were too long or that they ran out of some choices. The snackers in our group could not find any chips, pretzels, crackers etc. for in between meals. Maybe they just didn't see them, who knows? Our rooms were oceanview (actually sky view) but helpful in orienting you to the time of day. The rooms were very clean, attended to carefully every day (including having the ice bucket in the room refreshed during the day) and we enjoyed the "towel creations". The entertainment on the boat was fun, including the drunks making fools of themselves at Karaoke night. Bingo pretty pricey, so we didn't stay long. This is a relatively inexpensive cruise and I felt a good value for the money.

The day in Nassau was rainy which didn't help matters, but I was disappointed. The shopkeepers and vendors hawking their stuff were for the most part surly, ill tempered and the merchandise greatly overpriced. Maybe that is to be expected? But when 5 cruise dock there each day (or more), I would think they could show a little gratitude by at least being civil to the cruisers. The only bad experience was returning to the ship after the visit to the port and having to stand outside in the pouring rain for an hour waiting to clear the re-entry area to get back on the ship. Certainly, there has to be a better way to accomplish this. All things considered, Carnival offers a good product for the money and I have booked a different cruise already.

Cabin Review

Ocean View

No problem with our cabin. Size was bigger than I expected, although certainly not "roomy". Configured to maximize space. Bathroom was adequate. There was a small desk and large mirror to get ready while the other person used the bathroom. The cleanliness was A plus and the stewards cleaned every day, including refilling our ice buckets. Turndown service at night with their little "towel creation" was nice.
