Sailed on 14th. Jan .this year
Food was average. On 9 of the restaurants, you had to pay a surcharge of between $10 and $25 dollars, just to get in and get good food.
Had to wait every night to get a table in the 3 non supplement restaurants.
Drinks - @ $7 a pint all carried what they call a 15% autogratguity.
wine carried the same 15% as well as an 8% tax.
There is an automatic $12 per day added to you bill for gratuities for staff who are unlikely to get tipped e.g. kitchen staff.
We had to fight to get it deducted after a 3rd. degree at reception.
this $12 dollars is charged to everyone over the age of 3 ( YES 3 )
One family - 2 adults and 2 young children did back to back cruises for 21 days
Their extra charge was $ 1000 - $48 per day.
When I told them to fight to get it deducted - THEY DID.
We were not told until we arrived that the ship was infected with Norovirus and gastro enteritis. The crew worked non stop spraying and cleaning. They admitted to over 100 people infected THERE WERE FAR MORE.
What at first glance appeared to be a cheap cruise was not .
However I must say that the crew were pleasant and charming and couldn.t do enough for you. Also, nearly all the shows were of a very high standard.
A pity that two of the stops were Casablanca and Agadir - HOW DISAPPOINTING.
CADIZ AND GIBRALTAR WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER OPOTIONS.
