We were on the Golden to Hawaii 1/5 to 1/19 2011. You have seen here in other reviews that the weather was an issue. Yes, it was but i think Princess was a stand up cruise line for doing what they could to help with a tough problem. Hilo was great and our trip to the Volcano was very good for a reasonable price. The next day at Honolulu the weather was awesome we rented a convertable for the day and after going to the Arizona Memorial we drove the entire island and it only cost $75.00 plus $20.00 in gas. You can't get any excursion for that price for 3 people. As you have read the next two stops were washed out. High winds cost us Kauii and Maui was flooded and had land slides. Well it was dissapointing but who do you blame (shurly not God) well it isn't Princess Cruise lines fault either. So they did what they could we got a $250.00 credit each for another cruise. They managed to get new entertainers on to finish the last week. They tried to keep things going as best they could to fill the extra days. And for those of you still upset remember they could have tacked on $9.00 per day per person extra for a fuel charge over the $70.00 per barrel charge. It is running at about $90.00 right now but we were not charged a surcharge. For those of you who don't think the $250.00 was not enough remember Princess is not obligated to give anything back for problems related to weather. The first priority is safety of the Ship and passengers. If you got hurt by Princess being negligent you would be the first to scream lawsuit. I for one appreciate their due diligence.

Now for the services Our cabin steward was the best as on all of our cruises I thought he was staying under the bed because when ever we left the room when we got back it was clean. The food was good not great dinners were inconsistent but always pretty good with some nights excellent. I loved lunches the pizza, burgers and hot dogs were very good. Breakfast was the Princess down fall in food. I don't think these gourmet cooks can do breakfast. For the most part I would have to give a failing grade on breakfast. But the coffee was the best of the 3 cruise lines I have been on. The buffet is barely passable at any meal for a ship of this size the buffet is very small with not much selection. As with the other meals the breakfast was the worst with lunch and dinner being much better. Our server in the dining room was exceptional we were treated like royalty by the end of the cruise i thought of him as a friend. We tried the Crown Grill one night the service and the food was outstanding well worth the $25.00 per person cover charge. You will feel like your in a 5 star restaurant. This was my 3rd. trip on the Golden Princess and overall I have enjoyed each trip. I have also read about the bad elevator system on the Golden let me tell you how to get around that problem. If you need to go to the main restaurant on 6. Use the elevators forward or mid-ship go to 7 and walk to the aft then use the steps. If you are disabled use the anytime dining rooms there is no problem with elevators for those two. I for one will travel with Princess again.
