This is our 5th cruise on Princess and we were delighted as usual. We did find that there were some areas on the ship where the carpet was worn. The stairways and in front of the DiVinci Dining Room were particularily bad. The ship is gorgeous and a simple issue like carpet should be looked after.
Everything else looked great.
Our stateroom was beautiful. Clean and large and our cabin attendant was excellent. He immediately learned our names and addressed us by name each and every time we saw him. What a fabulous personal touch. We were impressed!!
The staff in general on the ship were excellent. Friendly, helpful, very nice. The cruise director Ron Goodman was without any doubt the best we have ever had!! He was highly visible throughout the entire cruise. He was friendly and he made a point of coming over to talk to us every time he saw us. What a great guy and perfect for the job. Can't say enough about him.
The casino was nice, typical ship casino but we were disgusted with something we saw happen day after day. There was a passenger who played at one of the table games daily. He was totally intoxicated every day. He was loud, constantly getting up out of his seat and making ridiculous bets and dealer tips. He didn't have a clue what he was doing because of his alcohol induced state. The casino staff allowed him to continue to gamble and the wait staff was actually bringing him drinks that he didn't order. The perception was that they were encouraging him. In any casino in the U.S. or Canada this fellow would have not been allowed to continue to drink and he would not be allowed to gamble. A U.S. or Canadian casino would loose their gambling license if that was allowed to happen. We were very disappointed in the casino management and the way this situation was handled. As frequent gamblers we found it disgusting!
Both embarkation and disembarkation were organized to a tee. How Princess manages to get 3,400 people on and off a ship so smoothly is really amazing. Our luggage arrived in our stateroom promptly at the beginning of the cruise and it was ready and waiting when we departed. Excellent job. An amazing added touch of class .............. the Cruise Director and the Hotel Manager (I think that was his title), were both on the gangway to shake hands with and thank every single passenger as they disembarked. We have never had that happen before and it really made us feel that our business and patronage to Princess Cruises was deeply appreciated. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!!!!
We found the food to be great. The buffet was the usual cruise buffet. Lots of selection, typical cruise buffet quality. Okay. The meals in the Botticelli Dining Room were phenomenal. Great selection daily, great personal service. Perfect! Lunch at Michelangelo's was great and the International Cafe was out of this world for a quick but delicious light lunch and dessert, dessert, dessert!!! We also were pleasantly surprised to see that ice cream at the ice cream parlour is now included!!! On past cruises it was not. The pizza was great, the burgers were great. Loved every bite!
After five Princess Cruises we look forward to planning our next one!!
