Embarked 30 December 2010. Sun princess getting a little jaded in many areas - most noticeable in carpets and soft furnishings (we first sailed on her thirteen year ago. The level of service is tremendous throughout the ship. The ship was full (2204 passengers though ship is listed as maximum 1950), but service was not jeopardised.
Food is satisfactory, bearing in mind the numbers being served. However, coffee throughout the ship, including that purchased in lounge and bar areas, is probably the worst in the world, and Princess Cruises should do something about it.
Facilities aboard are good considering she is now not one of the larger ships.
The selection of excursions was good, but very expensive for their content!!
There was a high standard of entertainment aboard. However, despite it being clear that the Cruise Director knows there is a problem, the second sitting diners are being unfairly treated over access to shows. Early in the cruise, the best available was to stand at the back. Later, scheduling prevented attendance at some shows. This is not the way it was when we first sailed on the Sun Princess, when entertainment seats were allocated.
There were more children and youths on board than we had experienced before, and some behavior was poor. It was not clear who was supervising these passengers.
