First, HUGE thanks to all who post. You all are soooo helpful!

A short review: Coral Princess:

Beautiful ship; excellent staff, esp. the dining room.

Roomy even with a full ship.

(Long narrow design for Panama Canal made it seem so)

Food was terrific, esp. main dining room dinners.

Highly recommended: Sabatenti's ... great experience.

Best cabin design, esp. for inside, of all.

Closet faced the bathroom with no doors. Very convenient.

Closet back served as a room divider. Flat panel TVs.

Excellent, well-paced itinerary.

Smooth disembarkation on port days, even with tenders. Very well-organized.

Excellent fast check-in and end of cruise disembarkation procedures.

Check out Wheelhouse Bar private rooms off main -- little musuem full

of nautical history.

(hope Princess is reading this.)

Skip Bayou Cafe ... unappealing spicy menu; no one ever in there.

(They should stick to a straight steakhouse concept)

Worst casino ...old machines, very few penny slots, very small smoking section. One penny machine was out the whole cruise.

Entertainment ...yawn. Unfunny comedians, old hat singing and dancing shows.

Misuse of Maurizio ... a terrific keyboarder who had them dancing in the aisles in Crooner's Lounge while Wheelhouse Bar was empty at night.

Very restrictive smoking policy on ship.

Expensive spa: $19 for polish change; $50 for a manicure!

That said ... worth the trip on this ship. Very enjoyable.

p.s. Forgive any mix-up on ports ...didn't take great notes and they seem to run together.

-- Didn't take ship shore excursions. Plenty of pier side drivers anxious for our business. Bargain with them.

Cabin review:

Inside cabin ... GREAT design. (See above). TIP: Two twin beds instead of one big double makes the room seem bigger.

Port and Shore Excursions

Crowded at Xmas with vactioning Mexican families, but fun. Spent the day at the beach. Shopped the beach vendors..bargain!! Skip the central flea market ..overpriced. Stick to tourist areas.

Easy off ... took taxi to beach, spent the day and retuned in time to shop the flea market on main street. (I think it only on weekends, but not sure.) NOTE: Taxi drivers will not take people in bathing suits and wet shoes. and no more than 5 in taxi. Very unhelpful drivers. Instead, look for "wild taxis" which are vans and run all the time on main bus routes ...cheap as bus fare and they stop whenever and wherever you are.

Always good. Head to Peublo Bonita Blanco (White) Hotel ...use their beach and pool..best around. Happy Hour 2/1 drinks beginning at 11 a.m. Stick to beach vendors...expensive in town. Flea market is pretty good ...but bargain hard.

A delightful surprise! Many were worried about safety due to past reputation, but sticking to main tourist areas is no problem. The skyline of downtown Cartegena looks like Miami Beach ... lots of skyscrapers = lotsa money being poured into the city. Visit lovely restored old city and shopped at street vendors. Bargain! Great pier area

Next stop: Fuerte Amador ...another great surprise! Restoring old city..charming. Panama City ...same version as Cartagena with a lot more traffic. Head back to ship early!

Took taxi ride to jungle cruise with croc feeding. Portside shopping village with open-air manicurist! $5. for a polish change! (Yeah!)

Book in advance: Costa Rica Gamboa Rainforest Resort tours www.gamboaresort.com if not booking tours from the ship. Tours were full when we got there, but worth the taxi ride to see the resort itself.
