Because of all the problems that we experienced in May, air con, plumbing and the famous smell, we contacted Thomsons to get some assurance about the ship following it's period in dry dock.
Thomson assured us that all the problems had been resolved and there would not be any problems during the Xmas cruise.
You will imagine our surprise when we entered our cabin to find that the air con did not work. In addition, there were still many problems around the ship with plumbing/ damp areas and many of the public toilets were once again out of order.
To top it all, the famous smell was back with a vengeance on levels 4, 5 and 6.
In addition, the ship also had many breakdowns with the engines, boilers and finally a fire in the engine room.
This all contributed in our being late into several ports and missing some altogether.
The Captain, once again went to ground and was not seen nor could he be contacted.
FOR ANY PASSENGERS TRAVELLING ON THIS SHIP - RECONSIDER! IT IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN AND IT ALMOST DID LAST WEEK WITH THE FIRE.
The whole incident was handled terribly by Thomson crew and it left many frightened and confused passengers.
The customer services department were just fighting against the tide of complaints and it just became worse as the cruise continued.
The saving grace of the ship is the bar and restaurant staff, they saved whatever pride and enjoyment that was left.
DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING THAT THOMSONS TELL YOU, IT IS JUST LIE AFTER LIE.
It was confirmed by staff on the ship that the air con had been worked on in dry dock, but it had not been tested!
The Staff Captain commented "the ship should never have left dry dock in Harwich".
We wholeheartedly agree. SHAME ON YOU THOMSON CRUISES, YOU HAVE LET EVERYONE DOWN AGAIN
