Fantastic value for money

Sail Date: December 2010
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We spotted a $69 two night cruise leaving Jan 2nd with MSC, a line we have never tried before - for that price what was there to loose?

What a bargain! Checking-in, was well organized and swift - we live in the USA on a Visa and sometimes have issues when embarking but not so with MSC. We completed the Express web check in prior to arrival which helped.

Our first surprise was to find we had been given a free upgrade to a balcony cabin. The cabin was spacious with spotless, the bathroom was also spotless.

The ship itself is elegant and contemporary, it definitely has a strong European flair. There are plenty of bars and small seating areas and it is easy to find a quiet spot to yourselves. Despite comments we had read we found the whole ship to be immaculately clean, staff were quick to remove any dirty cups, glass or plates.

We enjoyed the variety of food offered, pasta, pizza and salad bar were great. Service in the restaurant was quick and More unobtrusive. The restaurant offered a wide variety of well prepared food with great service. We sampled a number of dishes and all were excellent, especially the pasta which was totally authentic.

The salmon that i had on the first night was truly excellent.

We attended the variety show each night and were impressed by the range and calibre of the acts, some of the best was have experienced at sea.

There were a few areas which could have been improved: -

service in the bars was slow and although the cocktails are well priced they are on the small size compared to other cruise lines we have used. On the positive side you are not constantly pestered to buy drinks that we have experienced on most other cruises

there were long lines at the buffet, however, you can use the restaurant instead where the food is excellent or avoid the peak times

Pillows were lumpy and could do with being replaced

There are small points which didn't detract from the experience - what a fantastic way to start to New Year. We will definitely cruise with MSC in the future Less
