Great holiday cruise!

Sail Date: December 2010
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

This was our 5th cruise and probably one of the best. All of us had fun, including my 14 year old son and my 70 year old mother!

My son did not really enjoy the teen club itself, but met lots of teens to hang out with all day and night.

The food was average but we really don't go on cruises to eat. We just enjoy not doing the dishes!

The service was very good. The wait staff, bar staff, and cabin stewards were efficient and pleasant.

We did not take any shore excursions but chose to take taxi tours. We did purchase the Jolly Pirates 4 hour sail, snorkel, swim and swing cruise online for Aruba. It included lunch and unlimited drinks(including rum punch). It cost $98 for all four of us.

The cabin was small but adequate--who stays in the room anyway? The ship was very clean. The cruise was full but never seemed crowded except Christmas with Santa and New Year's Eve which is supposed to be a party.

Embarkation was a breeze. Walked More straight onto the ship at 12:30 and had lunch. Overall, a great holiday! Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Can get shuttles right outside the cruise port for $1.20 each way. Booked the Jolly Pirates cruise online for $98 for 4 of us. Snorkelled at 2 reefs and a shipwreck, had unlimited rum punch and drinks.

Went to Payne Beach(turle beach). Beach is gorgeous but have to be careful of obnoxious people trying to cheat the tourists.

Went to the Port Marie beach. Fantastic! Perfect sand, great snorkelling. Nice hotel restaurant and bar. Very friendly locals. The pink flamingo reserve is on the way there.

We have been to Grenada several times and have done the wonderful spice tours. This time just went to Grand Anse beach. Took the water taxi there which cost $16 for 4 of us. Took regular taxi back for $15. Very nice beach. No snorkelling.

Old town was very interesting. People very pushy. Went to Boca Chica which was not worth the money to get there. No snorkelling or even nice swimming. Vendors swarming all over you that will not take "no, thank you" seriously. The fruit man even cheated us!

Usually go to Sapphire beach but too windy so went to Magen's Bay which is very pleasant.

We did a taxi tour that cost $120 and then to Villa Beach. Nice beach with o.k. snorkelling. Very friendly people and cheap beer.
