Fun Week - Lots of Rocking

Sail Date: December 2010
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

I'm a pretty picky eater & traveler. So here's the good, bad & the in-betweens.

Food was very good - lots of choices & nice consistent quality at the buffets. Food was terrible at the free restaurants & at the 2 shows that charge for the meal & show - Cirque & the Mystery Theater. Cirque was just barely okay but it's not my thing anyway. Easily worth the extra $18 at Moderno's - we ate there 2ice it was so good (fun too) & a great place for meat lovers - sirloin, lamb, chicken, ribs were awesome. My wife ate at Teppanyaki's & said it was the best Japanese food she'd ever had. Friends did Le Bistro (French) & loved it as well.

Shows were mixed - Blue Man Group was good, Second City just okay, Legends was good, Mystery sucked & Cirque was mediocre at best - many mistakes. Dueling pianos was allot of fun - singing along songs by request - probably our favorite.

Cabins were tiny but bed was comfortable & a/c was More excellent. My teenage daughter slept on sofa which she said was awful. Boat rocked wildly for many hours one night, clearing out all of the public areas & I suspect many people used the barf-bags supplied in all the public restrooms. Crew didn't help the ship's reputation by saying "that was nothing!" Really doesn't encourage a return trip. Islands are all pretty poor but we did have one nice (expensive) excursion - swimming with Sea Lions in St. Thomas. If you don't gamble, there is not much to do at night & everything's closed by 1 am, except O'Sheehans. Very disappointing that there wasn't at least one late night with a midnight buffet & some activities as ship boasts "great nightlife". Huge screen on 5th/6th decks & outside on 15th deck with minimal movies & sports - too much of the "windows" channel. Speaking of channels, there were about 6 on the tv - 2 Nicks, Fox News, CNBC, BBC & a single "Sports" channel, that showed a couple of NFL games & allot of soccer.

All in all, we will not likely be cruising again, especially without a large group which saved us from hours of boredom. The helpless feeling that you have when that ship rocks (& the possibility for days of that) is not worth risking a good vacation on. Less
