We had never cruised before, but my husband (we're newlyweds, actually) and my mom decided to see what this cruising thing was all about. We boldly booked a week long cruises a bit apprehensive about being bored and "stuck" on a ship for a week. We needn't have worried at all, we could've stayed several days longer!

I had read some unflattering reviews of the Summit calling it the "Slummit" and some other nonsense, but I am pleased to report back that it was not nasty and "falling apart" as some of these reviews would have you believe. It was a nice ship and never did we feel as though it was beneath us in any way.

We are from metro Atlanta and are not people who are easily impressed by mediocre food. I had been a bit concerned that though cruise food is said to be good, it might be that it is good by working-class standards only. That being said, I am pleased to report that of all the nights on our cruise ship, we never once sent a meal back or did not like something in the main dining room. In fact, for as many people as they are serving each night, the food was damn good food! My advice is to follow some of the recommendations of your waiter- he or she is not trying to steer you wrong, folks. Go with the flow, and take the advice. We did, and the food was pretty yummy! If you didn't think so, maybe you chose a ship that wasn't for you. Unfortunately, my hips do not lie. We ate way too much! :)
