Ship Facts: Oasis of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Oasis of the Seas Deck Plans
Don't Miss this Ship!
We purposely booked this cruise so that we could be back home by Christmas, but after being on board of this ship, I wished we would have taken a 7 day cruise instead!

We flew into Ft. Lauderdale and visited relatives the day before. We stayed at the Hyatt Summerfield Suites which was inexpensive and very clean. Our relatives delivered us to the ship around 1:00pm. Check-in was a breeze and we were on the ship in no time. We did not hit the buffet due to the fact that we had a late brunch.

We went to the Solarium and enjoyed watching all of the ships at dock. It started to rain and we were dry lounging in the Solarium. We then went to our room and checked everything out, unpacked and got the maps out to start exploring the ship. It is very easy to navigate through the ship with the interactive maps that are located throughout the ship. The first afternoon was the only time that the ship felt crowded.

At 5:00pm the sun came out and we left port. The people with homes on the beach gave us a grand send off and we enjoyed watching the procession of five cruise ships leave the port. We sat on our balcony and waved to everyone.

Dining Options: There are many dining options, our favorite was the Main Dining Room. We ate at Chops and had reservations at Giovanni's but cancelled those after our dinner at Chops. We at at Chops on Sunday (formal night) and the food was less than good. The two couples seated on either side of us were also underwhelmed with the food. My husband returned his steak and they just couldn't get it right. In the 20 years that we've been married he's never returned a meal, he is not a picky eater, but the steak just wasn't cooked correctly. The waiter did reverse the charges for his meal which was unexpected but appreciated. All of the dinners that we had at the Main Dining Room were excellent and the service was stellar. We often ate lunch at the Solarium, we liked the nutritious options. Breakfast was at the Main Dining Room every morning. My one splurge was a milkshake at Johnny Rockets.

Entertainment: The entertainment on this ship is superb. We reserved times for all of the shows. Each one was better than the next, we were pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed all of them. Make reservations in advance it is much easier than having to wait.

Shipboard Activities: There were many children and families on this ship due to the time of sailing. We enjoyed watching the kids on the Flow Rider and on the Zip Line. I took a turn at the zip line and it was great. We mainly stayed in the Solarium and had no problems finding lounge chairs for the day.

Stateroom: We had a balcony room on the 9th floor and it was very quiet with the exception of our next door neighbors who left the deadbolt turned so the the kids could come and go to the room. The only problem is that it slammed every time they used it, it's been awhile since we've had that issue at our house. The room is spacious enough. We are smaller sized people and didn't have a problem, although only one of us could use the closet at a time. If you are a larger sized person it would be challenging to get to the closet. The bathroom at first looked very small, but it was surprisingly roomy after we started using it. The shower stall with it's rounded doors was very spacious. The sink was very small and took some time to get used to. I was pleasantly surprised at how hot the water in the shower and sink got. I love really hot showers and the Oasis delivered on this!

Service: The best, after sailing Princess last year it could only be better. Everyone of the crew said hello in the halls, if I asked them for directions they would personally take me to my destination. The wait staff was great!

Ports: We did not take this cruise to visit Cozumel or Nassau, but we did go on two great excursions. In Cozumel we went to the Xplor park. While there we zip lined, drove 4WD vehicles through the caves and jungle, swam in the underground river and canoed. The excursion included lunch at the park. It was a great time and we're glad that we experienced it. In Nassau, we went to Dolphin Encounters and swam with the dolphins. It was a thrilling experience and not something that we'll soon forget.

Disembarkation: We walked off the ship at 6:30am and were at the airport by 7:00am. That's the way to go, no waiting around for a number to be called.

Summary: This is a great ship, loved the neighborhoods, service and food. We will definitely be booking again in the future.
