X-Mas at Sea with the extended family on Rhapsody of the Sea

Sail Date: December 2010
Destination: South Pacific
Embarkation: Other

We have just returned from our 9 night cruise to the South Pacific and thought we would provide some feedback.

Overall our experience aboard Rhapsody was very positive and we would be happy to sail on this ship again in the future.

Our initial boarding was a bit stressful. We were advised to board at 12.30pm.....however it would appear that judging by the queues, everybody else was trying to board at that time swell. In Hindsight I would avoid this peak time and come a little later...the Windjammer was open for lunch until 3.30pm so you could still grab a bite the eat then. Having said that the staff checking you in were sensitive to our family with a toddler who was getting very overtired and distressed and processed us very quickly. Departure from the ship on the final day was so quick and easy though! Fantastic!

Once on board we were able to go straight to our rooms were our bags had already been delivered...very fast. We had two interconnecting rooms More for our family of five and found this set up worked very well. The rooms were very clean and nicely presented. We bought along our own portable DVD player for our toddler, but the TV did have some kids programs showing as well which came in handy for some rest time.

We ate breakfast and lunch predominately in the Windjammer which we found was pretty good. Most evenings we ate in the Main dining room, which was lovely. The staff really go out of their way to give you a great dining experience...not happy with your meal selection...no problem they get you another. We travelled with extended familyand kids...at all times I felt it was a family friendly Friendly staff.

The ports of Isle of Pines and Lilfou Island were our favorites with good snorkeling. We would definitely take our own snorkeling gear next trip as it was sometimes difficult to get gear on the Islands. I would also recommend everyone invest in long sleeve rash tops to protect from sunburn....I can't tell you how many sunburnt people were wandering sound the ship after visiting the first Port of Isles of Pine. Once you are badly sunburnt it makes the rest of the holiday less enjoyable!

X-Mas was lovely on the boat! There was a lovely big tree in the Centrum, Santa gave out presents and there was caroling. There was lots for the kids to do, the little once loved the face painting. We didn't really use the kids club so can't give any feedback there.

Overall found the ship to be very friendly and relaxed. Can't think of anything else, but if anyone has any questions happy to answer them! Less

Cabin review: Rhapsody of the Seas Large Oceanview Stateroom Deck 3 2038

2038 & 2040 Interconnecting Oceanview Rooms on level 2. We had no problem with these rooms. Intact they are located very close to the lifts which we found handy with a toddler.
