The last minute packing was relaxing because the drive to the port was only 40 minutes. Thanks Baltimore for opening the port to cruise ships. It was cold outside but we were able to get into our stateroom to drop off items and go to Windjammer to get lunch. So what we left the port late because they needed more time to onboard food for the 12 days - dinner was on time and our vacation had started.
The room sizes are the room sizes and those of us going on the cheap know that. We only use our rooms for changing clothes and sleeping. The rest of the time hanging out on the pool deck was where we wanted to be - even while still in cold weather area. The Solarium was there to protect us from it.
The food was okay. Some improvements could be made such as more liquid in the pancakes. All the water/juice coffee stations weren't opened 24 hours so you had to walk further sometimes but hey that helped to walk off the prior meal! It is hard to feed over 2500 people with different likes and dislikes so I do admire the cook staff for their hard work.
The staff on board was great and it always makes the trip when you see they are happy and loving their jobs. Our dinner wait staff was the best and helped us out with special food requests.
Having a couple days at sea prior to 6 days at port was nice so you can get relaxed (forget about work), make ship board friends and get into a cruise routine. The 6 ports were good and we did tours at each one. Just wish there was more time to be in the ports so you could do more onshore such as do a tour, go back to ship for lunch and then go back out on your own. We hate rushing on vacation and definitely don't want the experience of missing the ship leave the port.
The nightly entertainment was the best. We only had 2 nights with the on board team. The other nights had something for everyone - music, comic, magic. The talent was amazing and what a value - Vegas shows for cruise prices.
Great people on the cruise and yes it was a more mature crowd with few under 18 but hey that's why some of us picked this time -- we cruise for the R&R and not the party life.
12 days to cruise was great. When you take a 7 day or less, about day 5 you are just getting relaxed and into the routine when you realize it is almost over but with 12 days, you still have 7 more days plus we had 3 days at sea after the 6 port days to rest and just hang around the pool.
We were delayed getting off the ship but the crew made sure we were safe and had something to eat and drink. We did find our luggage quickly and was on our way home in no time. The only down side was all the dirty clothes to take care of when we got home.
Overall, it was a great trip and would recommend.
