My wife and I are under 40, and this was our sixth cruise now. All prior cruises have been to the Caribbean and we have cruised on NCL, RCI, Carnival and HAL. This is our third NCL cruise. I would say we both have reasonable expectations in general and this review will reflect this.

I'm not going to to get overly detailed but rather give a brief general sense of what we thought of this cruise.

In Jan 2010 we actually sailed on the NCL Pearl which is basically an identical ship to the Gem so we knew what to expect in terms of the boat. We also felt the Pearl was our favourite ship to date so we knew we were going to like the ship. The ship itself is laid out very well, with a nice interior design. It may sound funny, but the Gem (and Pearl) have the best bathrooms we have seen on any ship so far. We had a balcony room and overall the room was nice.
