Being a regular Cunard customers booking this cruise was spur of the moment decision for my wife and I but we simply couldn't make the dates work so we chose the Caribbean Princess from San Juan.

As we live in UK this involved a flight out from Heathrow to Miami, overnight stay in the Inter Continental then a short 2 hr flight to San Juan the following day. Once we arrived in San Juan we were greeted by the Princess representatives who took our details then asked our suitcases to be lined up whilst they remove the tags. We then had to drag them outside to an awaiting truck then we got on the transport at 1130am. assuming we would have a drive around the rain forest to kill time as the embarkation was not before 1pm. To our relief we drove for about 20 minutes directly to the ship for an immediate embarkation.

The Caribbean Princess was berthed back to back with the Royal Caribbean ship - Treasure of the Seas. After a fairly quick embarkation our cabin located at the back of the ship gave us a great view of the poor people queuing literally for hours (in the very hot afternoon sun)to embark the other ship. We could barely cope with sitting on the balcony at this stage so I bet the reviews for that cruise will be colourful to say the least! The OS suite located on the Aloha deck (deck 12) was slightly bigger that the Q5 grade we are used to with Cunard but was absolutely fine and very quiet throughout. Only criticism was in the morning the balcony tended to have rubbish on it from the pool deck above. (One morning we found glass!) However a great place to relax with a good sized balcony and out of the wind when at sea.
