The Norwegian Jade was a very nice ship with many amenities if you don't mind shelling out the money for them. Everything had a price and it was very difficult to stick to a budget if you wanted anything more than the free buffets and to sit by the pool. The food in the free dining rooms was average and repetitive but not horrible. Surprisingly, eating in the Main Dining room was free and added a more formal touch (not black tie). Their 24 hour restaurant was a good spot to grab a burger or wings when you want a touch of home. Overall, the only "problem" I had was on the first night. We hit some rough seas and I couldn't sleep because the ship was shaking and rolling so I went walking around to ask someone if it was always like that or if it was just a once in a blue moon event. I couldn't find anyone who spoke English well enough to give an answer beyond "everything OK!"

As a young, energetic person who was a history major and wants to see as much as possible the shore excursions were disappointing. They were expensive and did not see a lot. As you'll see in my Rome review, the NCL excursion went to about 3 sites while my private tour, which cost less, went to about 10 sites. You're loaded onto a bus with 50 other people and they travel at the speed of the slowest person so it can be slow going at times. Very frustrating having to wait on the entire group to get to the top of the Acropolis before our tour guide could begin her speech. I would recommend researching private tourism agencies. You'll get more bang for your buck.

Also, this was not really and "under 40" cruise. I quite literally saw less than a dozen people on the boat the entire cruise who appeared to be under the age of 40. I even saw a few walkers and wheelchairs.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

Closet was small but not horrible. Great balcony to watch the shoreline or just look out to sea. The TV was very small and old. I expected a larger flat screen TV.
