Just got back from the Western Caribbean itinerary. The ship seemed to be running just fine. After hearing the day before we were supposed to leave about the unfortunate events that occurred during the cruise just prior to ours I was a little worried we weren't going to make it to all our ports. This was not the case.
My wife and I had a great time aboard the Sun. It was everything we expected for the price we paid. The staff were very nice, and we were happy with the service we received. We thought the food was pretty decent in the main dining rooms. We are not huge buffet people, so we only ate the buffet when the dining rooms were closed. The setup of the buffet is a little confusing, but unless your extremely inpatient, it was not a big deal. We didn't try any of the cover charge restaurants. Overall, we were very happy with the food. Could it have been better on more expensive cruise line, maybe, but it wasn't noticeably worse than the food on my Carnival cruise several years ago.
We arrived in Cozumel and it was really windy, so the port was closed to small vessels meaning our catamaran/snorkeling excursion was cancelled. Disappointing, but not NCL's fault at all. The charges were immediately removed from our on board credit. The only thing I wish they would have done is made an announcement on the ship that the port was closed because we didn't know this until we were ashore.
