This was to be a 50th birthday cruise for my husband/ Christmas present to each other. Along with us came our best friends, his sister and her husband and another couple. His sister signed on kind of last minute and flew in from Michigan. The best Birthday present he had.
We are from Tn and decided to drive down and spend the night in New Orleans the night before. Arrived at the Drury Inn in time for drinks and fun on Bourbon street. Our first time in New Orleans but we are going back. Got up about 7am Saturday and wanted to go to Cafe Du Monde for beignets. I think everyone's idea was the same the line was so long we decide to just go on to the ship.
We arrived at 11:30 and were on in 45 minutes. No problem. This was my 6th cruise and the smoothest embarkation yet. I don't think VIP could have been any quicker. There were lines but moved fast. While your standing in line to board the ship your so busy looking at the ship and the goings on on the pier that time flys.
We went by the cabin to see where it was and some of our luggage was already there so we dropped off our carry on outside also. We wemt to the Lido and grabbed some lunch. No long lines there either. We all ate from somewhere different, Pizza, deli, hamburgers and the buffet bar. Good food.
All smiling faces and friendly crew, never came into contact with any problems at all. Our waiter Adolfo was excellent. Our Cabin guy Kodak was average. Did everything good just not anything outstanding. Room service was great. On time every morning and quick whenever we wanted a snack. Dining room staff was great and entertaining.
We enjoyed the shows we got to see. My only real complaint was that the comedy shows were not in the main show room, so not alot of room and if you didn't show up real early it was standing room only.
We spent alot of our time on our adjoining balcony's and that was great.
Easy to get around as we were only one floor down from the Lido so we walked using the stairs alot to work off the food. I can see were some have said it is hard to navigate, but I kept the map handy and planned ahead. Lots of areas to just sit and talk. Very clean.
We were in no hurry to leave so we ate breakfast in the main dining room for the first time and I wish we had done this earlier. Very nice.
Our zone was zone 12. When it was called at 8:45 we decided they were going to kick us off anyway so we should leave. Very easy. No problems.
Food - Escargot, Chocolate melting cake, Thai chicken tenders.
Shows- The Marriage show.( I don't care how many times you have cruised, this show is funny) The Big Easy. (last night)
Keep your TV on the cruise channel so if you miss any of the Lido deck fun you can rewatch it while getting ready for dinner of the evening.
