Going back soon!!

Sail Date: December 2010
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: New Orleans

This was to be a 50th birthday cruise for my husband/ Christmas present to each other. Along with us came our best friends, his sister and her husband and another couple. His sister signed on kind of last minute and flew in from Michigan. The best Birthday present he had.

We are from Tn and decided to drive down and spend the night in New Orleans the night before. Arrived at the Drury Inn in time for drinks and fun on Bourbon street. Our first time in New Orleans but we are going back. Got up about 7am Saturday and wanted to go to Cafe Du Monde for beignets. I think everyone's idea was the same the line was so long we decide to just go on to the ship.

EMBARKATION

We arrived at 11:30 and were on in 45 minutes. No problem. This was my 6th cruise and the smoothest embarkation yet. I don't think VIP could have been any quicker. There were lines but moved fast. While your standing in line to board the ship your so busy looking at the ship and the goings on on More the pier that time flys. We went by the cabin to see where it was and some of our luggage was already there so we dropped off our carry on outside also. We wemt to the Lido and grabbed some lunch. No long lines there either. We all ate from somewhere different, Pizza, deli, hamburgers and the buffet bar. Good food.

SERVICE

All smiling faces and friendly crew, never came into contact with any problems at all. Our waiter Adolfo was excellent. Our Cabin guy Kodak was average. Did everything good just not anything outstanding. Room service was great. On time every morning and quick whenever we wanted a snack. Dining room staff was great and entertaining.

ENTERTAINMENT

We enjoyed the shows we got to see. My only real complaint was that the comedy shows were not in the main show room, so not alot of room and if you didn't show up real early it was standing room only. SHIP

We spent alot of our time on our adjoining balcony's and that was great.

Easy to get around as we were only one floor down from the Lido so we walked using the stairs alot to work off the food. I can see were some have said it is hard to navigate, but I kept the map handy and planned ahead. Lots of areas to just sit and talk. Very clean.

DEBARKATION

We were in no hurry to leave so we ate breakfast in the main dining room for the first time and I wish we had done this earlier. Very nice.

Our zone was zone 12. When it was called at 8:45 we decided they were going to kick us off anyway so we should leave. Very easy. No problems.

Must dos:

Food - Escargot, Chocolate melting cake, Thai chicken tenders.

Shows- The Marriage show.( I don't care how many times you have cruised, this show is funny) The Big Easy. (last night)

Keep your TV on the cruise channel so if you miss any of the Lido deck fun you can rewatch it while getting ready for dinner of the evening. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Cozumel

We had been here before and love this island. Our plan had been to go deep sea fishing but the waters were to rough so we rented 2 jeeps and drove the day away. Stopping when and wherever we wanted. If you don't want to do this on your own, take the bar hop tour, you can truly see the island this way.

Progreso was our first port and we did the all inclusive resort thru Auto Progreso. Never felt unsafe and we even had to stand on a corner and wait for 10 minutes after the bus dropped us off from the pier. 45 minute ride to The Reef was nice. Got to see the way the poor lived and it was insightful. Our day was extremely windy so we didn't check out the water. Never had to move from our chairs if we didn't want to. The bar waiter was on top of things. Shopping at the port was very cheap. Most everything was on the average 2-5 dollars cheaper then Cozumel. I am talking about T-shirts and souvenirs. We could have went to the ruins as it was included in our price but our group just wanted to hang out on the beach. An easy day for our guide he stayed with us the whole day and was very informative with our questions to and from the resort and checked on us often at the beach.
