Although the weather was generally awful (cold, cloudy and windy) my grown-up daughter and I, first-time cruisers, had a terrific time. We loved the windows and views all over the ship, walked and gazed in the many outdoor areas despite the cold and wind, and found our cabin a cozy haven at the end of each day.
We began every day with room service and enjoyed generous servings of fruit, coffee and pastries on the balcony. Windjammers was great for a mid-morning breakfast and also lunch, and we dined in the MDR each night. The variety and quality of food was wonderful - if you can't find something you enjoy eating in Windjammers, you are too cranky and picky. MDR dinners were elegant and offered gourmet choices, beautifully presented, and served with flair. We had to discipline ourselves not to eat ridiculous amounts.
Hats off to the dancers and singers, who went on with the theatre show even when the ship was rolling so much the curtains were swaying behind them. We especially enjoyed the Piano Man show in the theatre and the pianist in the Schooner, who was also doing Billy Joel and Elton John. But really, there were musical acts in so many places, throughout each day and evening, and we enjoyed them all.
1522 rocked and rolled in the high seas, but it was a fine location. Balcony was pretty unobstructed, and we had a bird's-eye view of the people on the bridge guiding the ship into dock. This cabin is very near the forward elevators and stairs, and it's a short walk up one flight and through the solarium to the pool area. Very quiet location.
