We read many of the reviews about the Sky and many of the criticisms are genuinely accurate. This is actually a decent cruise for first timers, as they have nothing to compare it to, and it just gets better from here with other cruise lines.
We did have a good time, largely because we were working with lowered expectations, and made the best of a number of issues that came up.
What we liked:
-Embarcation: parking lot was very close and boarded quickly
-Freestyle dining concept was OK, we didn't wait on any table seating
What we didn't like:
-Room booked for 3 only had 2 beds, the 3rd being a pathetic pull out mattress, usable for a small child at best. Once opened you had to climb over this mattress to access the bathroom. If our 3rd person had been an adult, we would have disembarked the cruise before leaving over this.
-The food was really not good at all, I was expecting this from all the reviews and they were right. On other Cruises evening dining is a highlight of the cruise, not so here.
-We met some very friendly crew and staff, but way too many ordinary or plain rude experiences as well.
-The main deck was unsuitable for children (which is understandable) and this is why they designate a childrens pool and spa on deck 12. This spa was FULL of adults, no staff supervision at all and kids couldn't use.
-The private island debarcation was chaos in the morning, people lining up over several floors, no attendants at all. We stayed on board and disembarked at 2pm, which ended up being good as we had access to things that were normally packed. We would have prefered to not miss 2 hrs of the island.
We made the best of it, having great weather and both days off the ship at port, but it was our least favorable cruise experience.
