Flew into Tampa on Veteran's Day and stayed with family until the Sunday cruise.

When I booked this cruise, I thought it would be a good 2 for 1. Fly into Tampa and visit family (brother's, parent's, aunt's, uncle's, etc.) Then jump on the ship for nice relaxing 7 day cruise. We had always told ourselves that we would never cruise the Caribbean, but would stick to the AI's or rent a beach house like we've done many times over the years. However, the price and convenience were too good to pass up.

Embarkation was a breeze. Got there @ 1030 and we were having our first cocktail @ noon. Other reviews complain about the age of the ship but it is fine. They take very good care of it and we had no issues. We didn't find the staff to be as friendly as the staff on our Princess cruises but maybe they were shy about their english. Meals were also good. We ate in the main dining room every night (anytime dining) and only had to wait twice (for about 10 minutes each time). We did the steak house one night and it was very good. The issue I have with them is that it was $5/pp more than Princess and where Princess tells you that the charge ($25/pp) is basically a gratuity for the wait staff, Carnival wants you to tip the staff on top of the $30/pp charge.

Cabin Review

Premium Balcony

Cabin 9B

Excellent cabin. Biggest cabin we've ever booked (only taken 3 cruises prior to this one). We always book a BA balcony on Princess and this cabin was probably the same size as their mini-suites. We had 3 chairs and a small table on the balcony. We could have easily fit another 3 chairs and another table. We were initially worried as the elevators are behind one of the walls but we experienced zero noise from the elevators.
