Ship Facts: Norwegian Epic Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Norwegian Epic Deck Plans
EPIC means FUN and RELAX too
Never been on a cruise before, had many excuses to do so.. cruises were for older people, cruises are for kids, cruises are for lazy people, cruises are for... well whatever... not true..

Have Read many reviews on NCL EPIC.. i want to write about my experience on this ship..i traveled with friends i was looking to get some relaxing time and also wanted to get some sun and have fun.. and eat plenty..

On the Epic i could do all that,

ROOMS

I have no idea why people complain about the size of rooms or bathroom specifications, i stayed at the cheapest room, an inside and the beds were as heavenly as those ones on that famous hotel chain, the design of the rooms was funky, clean, modern, the bathrooms and closet space are just fine for 2 people (maybe 3), i saw the balcony rooms and they were really big, and managed to see the inside studios too and altough smaller they were very adecuate, i dont see why anybody can complain on the room matters.. i meant their adecuate for the price you pay.. and since the ship is brand new u feel like ur using all that for the first time..

FUN

i dont smoke, but i never ever felt like i needed to go out of an area cause it smelled.. not true. and trust me i traveled with people that smoked so i know where u could smoke and were u could not, and the smoking areas are just a few (those include the casino, some of the restaurants near the casino, the pool bar area and some of the bars .. but thats it. lots of people i read have complained that they had to get through the casino in order to get into restaurants or theatre.. dont listen to that.. first of all its fun to go into the casino, and second u can avoid all that but u need to read ur map first..

ENTERTAINMENT

Mr Paul Scully and his gang are really there at all times, this ship is really fun and activities are nite are endless, i liked the outdoor parties at h20 the special adult pools.. and the disco parties at bliss the big lounge/disco

where by the way u cant smoke..

loved how Paul and his crew videotape many of the events and how those minor details become part of your ship memories..

PHOTO STUFF

loved how many photographers are around the ship, trust me they can take better pics than u can and their valued experience is really great, pics are expensive but very worthy specially if theyre taken at the top of the slides at the pool (where nobody will carry a cam) .. or at the bottom of the led crystal chandelier to catch you when u dress up..

SPA

if you dont have a balcony and up, the SPA is a must, have the week pass, its not that expensive and it really complements the trip so well, at the spa you can relax like a king..i went there daily.. (sometimes even twice a day)

POOL AREA

yes the pools are small but the area in general is big, you have to wake up and reservate your beach chairs with a towel if u want to catch the sun.. but that was never a problem for us.. in case u dont want to do that u can still get some chairs here and there, and there are many beach chair areas, along with the pool ones, theres a big "secret" places on deck 18 and 19 where anybody can have a chair.. plus u can always have a pass for POSH the exclusive sun lounge..

POOL AREA slides

This ship comes with 3 slides, the green one is the most fun, its very very very fast not for the faint of heart.. the middle one is what they call the plunge, its very entertaining but doesnt go as fast as the green one, theres a third one which is like green but goes much slower.. i used all 3 many times and they are really worthy.. and lines are not so big either..

FOOD

all the food i had (which happened to be plenty of..) was excellent, from wonderful buffet breakfast at Garden cafe and same food but not buffet on Taste.. to the great service in free for all Manhattan restaurant with all the art deco new york style and great orchestra

loved also Bistro.. i went to the pub sheenans but i didnt find that particulary interesting but i see that for most people eating burgers or fish and chips is a great thing..

i used the room service too twice and it was adecuate, tought sometime tough but u have to plan ahead i guess.. thats all.. no big deal..

im not goin on a cruise to enjoy chinese or japanese food but thats me.. so dint go to those but seemed popular..

Cagneys and Moderno are both very good but i think Bistro is even better than those 2.. and if u dont want to overspend just go to Manhattan, Taste or the buffet and u wont be dissapointed..

SHOWS

Enjoyed the shows but oddly i enjoyed the ones that were more reality show based .. the one i liked the most was dancing with the epic stars at Manhattan.. i loved the production on legends very tasteful and expensive looking.. i didnt understand Blue Man Group that much but still enjoyed it..

the theatre is beautiful.. but i think the real entertainment are the activities and parties that the cruise director organizes..

EMBARKING/DISEMBARKING

why do people write so much about this i dont know, both took me like 5 minutes and were easy as 1-2-3..

PORTS OF CALL

i went into ST MARTEEN oriental beach on the french side and loved it (paid 8 dollars round trip each o a shuttle taxi with other people from other cruises) it was fun, and the place is really cheap..

disembarked at ST THOMAS too where theres a big shopping area downtown .. for some people that can be interesting.. since it was cloudy i didnt see the beach but for some reason what i wanted was to return to the ship right away ..

we didnt see NASSAU.. sorry for all those that had activities planned there but for me it was sooo fun to stay at the ship the whole day it was a beautiful sunny (a bit windy) day at the pool area.. all day

other stuff

ICE BAR is a nice option but its one of those things u want to do just once..

loved the football games at the huuge outdoor tv on h20 (heard is the biggest on any ship), loved also the indoor cinema on atrium, i was impressed with the resoultion of the screen there..

GYM

last but not least, the gym area is fun and has enough cardio machines and weight machines for everybody.. theres lots of gym related activities too the whole day plus seminars and stuff..

on the whole i want to thank NCL for this wonderful ship and im looking forward to traveling with them again.. i wish i could do another trip on this same ship.. i liked it a LOT..
