Good Cruise

Sail Date: October 2010
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

The cruise started with the easiest check-in I can remember. We found our interior cabin to be larger than expected and on a deck that was high and easy to everything. The cabin was clean and modern. Our cabin server was great and very helpful - no complaints from us. The ship is very nice, but as others have said it is time for refurbishing, but that is hardly something to complain about.

The food was generally good, breakfast was the best and lunch was good too. Dinner had its challenges. We elected the dine any-time and we had to wait a little to be served, but it wasn't that long as we came down after 7 p.m. What did take long was the service at the table. Some nights we just elected to eat at the buffet and that was fine. The meat in general was a little tough, but the chicken was always good. The deserts were great and in general the food was good.

The ports of call were what sold us on the cruise and we enjoyed them all. We were sorry to miss out on the Turks, More but the storm caused that. The captain did a great job navigating around the storm so "great job". The entertainment was fine too, we enjoyed the comedian, the ventriloquist, and the piano player and quartet.

The staff was were friendly and I can't remember better. After reading previous reviews of this ship, my husband and I were far less critical. We never felt like the ship was crowded. Frankly, we enjoyed the cruise and would choose this cruise line and ship again. Less

Cabin review: Grand Princess Interior Double Baja Deck a208

Quiet cabin, clean, good ship location, better than most balconies on this ship.

Port and Shore Excursions

We on ship tour to a barrier reef to snorkel, very good trip.

Been here before. Beaches and snorkeling the thing to do. Take the city bus, just outside port to great snorkeling beach and only $2 not $20 cabs charge.

Been here before. Best beach and swimming very close to ship at Carlisle Bay. Short cab ride or you can walk.

We were here before, snorkeling great at beach at Westbutt just take city bus, only $2 and about 45 minute ride to the most beautiful setting at western end of island. Went into town and crossed bridge and had a beer - no shopping for us.

Never been here before. A beautiful island. Great waterfalls, interesting tour by taxi and got a good overview. The spice tour was interesting and as first timers it is a must to take a tour. we than went to a beach and did some amazing snorkeling and then took a water taxi back to ship. We would like to come again and have more time. The hurricane Tomas hit the island before we got there but not too much damage.

This was a substitute port as Santo Domingo closed because of storm, but we had a good time here. Went jogging, shopping and bar hopping. Old town is a fun place. Have been here many times and from what I here, we probably got lucky to miss Santo Domingo.

Skipped St. Thomas per se and took boat to Trunk Bay on St. John. The most beautiful place of all. Snorkeling on the park trail excellent, just not enough time.

The best. Hired private cab to take us around and views were spectacular. Must see Pirates of Caribbean movie location. Then on to unspoiled beach for snorkeling. We are coming back here for sure.
