I thoroughly enjoyed my transatlantic cruise. The crew on the ship were very friendly and helpful. Our cabin steward was really nice and anything we asked of him he did. The wait staff in the dining room were terrific. They were friendly and so professional. They remembered our names and things about what we liked and didn't like. They made dining a pleasure. The food was fantastic! We ate just about at every place and didn't have a bad meal. The crew manning the food stations were always friendly and very accommodating. The activities offered were varied and good. I enjoyed the dance club the best. The shows at night were great as well as the musicians that played on the ship throughout the day/night. The crew was always upbeat and eager to help in any way possible.
We visited 4 ports: Malaga, Madeira,Tenerife and La Palma. Malaga had a lot of construction going on at the port and in the city. We took the red Hop on Hop off bus. The driver was really good. He stopped so folks could get off and went slowly past sites of interest. We went way up to the top of the city and the views were breath taking! Roads were really narrow and it got scary at times. The tape that you listened to was informative and you could hear it clearly. Madeira,Tenerife and La Palma are reviewed below. La Palma was my favorite. Very quaint, things within walking distance and the people very friendly and helpful.
It would be nice to have enough time to do a shore excursion and wander through the towns. If you only have time to do one you really don't get a good view of the islands.
I would cruise with Celebrity again. There were problems with embarkation-the ship was several hours late and that in turn backed up embarking and disembarking took a long time as well. However it was not a big deal for me. I just got to talk with fellow passengers more. Great cruise-food, crew and weather.
