We were a little cautious about NCL after reading some reviews. It turned out to be pretty much what we had read about.
The beds were bad. The mattresses were worn out. Our Stewards did manage to swap mattresses with the overhead bunks and those mattresses were less worn. The stewards were very good.
The food was very salty to our tastes, especially the hot soups and sauces. We tried to order low salt meals but it proved difficult. The food was also uninteresting; it was like cafeteria fare at an institution. The Blue Lagoon food was the worst. It was like frozen dinners heated in a microwave.
There was incessant music pushed through tinny speakers in the market cafe. I was reminded of a transistor radio turned to maximum volume.
The ship itself had and awkward layout and the remodel which replaced the the observation lounge with staterooms was a mistake. There was nowhere inside to look forward over the bow.
The entertainment was ho hum and the activities uninspiring. It was very much a budget cruise.
We did enjoy the staff and they were pleasant and helpful, except the shore excursion people who had very little interest in us when we wanted to learn about the ports.
