We were able to drop off our luggage early and were invited to have lunch. This was a light lunch in the lounge. When our cabin was ready we were escorted to the cabin. We had chosen to travel in the cheapest cabin and it turned out somewhat better than we had expected. As Aussies it was a nice surprise to find that there were six other Aussies onboard.
We found the staff all friendly and helpful. The food was good. There was not as many choices as on our Ocean cruises but there were certainly plenty of food and of good quality. There was always some sort of entertainment after dinner but mainly provided by the staff. The musician was talented. There were some evenings when entertainers were brought on board and they were great.
As we had previously been to Europe on several occasions we filled in our days with the excursions which were included in the price paid. My husband did do the "Nuremberg" tour for which he paid extra but after discussing where we had been on his return, we decided that he hadn't seen much more than I had on the "free" tour.
This cruise was a lot of FUN with a great group of people. A special highlight for us was the 60 odd lochs that we passed through.
When we disembarked in Budapest we were met by a private guide who we had arranged prior to leaving home. She put our luggage in the boot of her car and took us out for the day to show us Budapest through the eyes of a local. We chose to go out into the country and had a wonderful day. At lunch time she took us to a local restaurant and the food was inexpensive but first class. We were the only tourists in the place and the guide helped us with our selection of food. At the end of the day she took us to the airport. This was a wonderful finale to a wonderful holiday. I can highly recommend the guide. Gabriella Török www.privatetoursbudapest.com
