A Legendary Cruise!
This was our eighth cruise with Carnival and probably the most enjoyable! We had sailed mostly on larger ships and were really surprised to really love the layout of the Carnival Legend! We had an extended balcony and it was really extended - probably six feet wide and close to 25 feet long! For anyone who is interested, it was 7258.
The port in Tampa was set-up well, we left our hotel which was close to the port at 10:20 and were on the Lido deck having lunch by 11:30!
Food was exceptional all week - both in the master dining room for dinner and most breakfasts and on the Lido for lunch most days. We did try the Lido for breakfast one morning and didn't much care for it!
Monday - lots of great on-board activities! Lay by the back pool for a while - it is adults only is it mostly stays that way!
Tuesday - Grand Cayman. Took the Best of Grand Cayman ship tour and we really enjoyed it! We were going to go shopping, but if you aren't interested in More buying jewelry there aren't many shops to go into.
Wednesday - Cozumel. Had been here many times and spent a week here about four years ago. Just took a cab into town, wandered through shops, had lunch and a wonderful Sangria, and headed back to the ship.
Thursday - Roatan. Wonderful - that's all - wonderful! Beautiful sailing in. Took the ship excursion to Tabyana Beach. Great beach and the snorkeling was amazing! A big reef about 50-60 yards off-shore with guys in kayaks making sure you're ok. Lots and lots of pretty coral and tons of colorful fish! I have snorkeled many places - this was the best! The beach had comfy chairs in the sun and in shade. Had guys bringing you drinks if you wanted and they had a buffet lunch if you're interested. Albert was there to look after your stuff so you could go in the water - nice guy! Went back to the port, prowled through some shops, had a beer (we enjoyed a local beer in each port!), and went back to the ship just before a massive rain shower came through - absolutely drenching. However, about 15 minutes later the sun was out again. Typical tropical weather!
Friday - Belize. We ashore to do some shopping. Stayed in the port area and still got some awesome buys - great liquor prices and some nice woodwork for Christmas gifts. Had our beer, went back to the ship.
Saturday - Day at Sea. Relaxed, too windy and rough to go by the pool. This was the only "iffy" weather day (aside from the brief shower in Roatan). Not because of the tropical storm we were running from but from a front off the U.S.! Saw some shows, had a great dinner, DH spent some time in the sports bar watching some games.
Observations - Casino was fun - I lost some but not too much on Blackjack. DH made about $40 on the craps table. We bought the drink tickets ahead of time and felt like it saved us about a $1.00 each time. Wee Jimmy was the cruise director and was wonderful but was a "wee bit" under the weather some of the cruise so the ACD Sam helped out and did a great job! Did the anytime dining and really loved it! The hostesses in the dining room were exceptional, and one in particular, Nancy Nunez, knew our names by the second night and would always speak to us no matter where she saw us! The waitstaff was incredibly good - I was worried about that but they were fantastic!
As noted earlier, this was our eighth cruise and we are already looking toward #9! Would never hesitate to sail the Carnival Legend again. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Legend Balcony Verandah 7258
Huge balcony! Very quiet. Centrally located to the back of the ship so easy access to the lido dining area and the Truffles dining room. A little further to go to the casino and theater.
