We are a couple in our early 50's from Florida and really enjoyed our cruise on the Splendour of the Seas from Venice to Greece.

Embarkation: We flew into Rome and spent two days there, then took the fast train to Venice. You need to book your train seat in advance over internet. We stayed overnight near Plaza Roma and then took the free bus from Plaza Roma to the ship. I recommend you stay near Plaza Roma to avoid a long bag drag in Venice as the narrow walkways and bridges can make for a tiring hike and the water taxi's are very expensive. Getting on Splendour was quick - we had a junior suite so used the suites-only line which took about 10 minutes. Regular line was a little longer but not too bad.

Ship/Crew: Although the ship is elderly (10 yrs plus), it is very nice and clean. The center area was beautiful. Our room (JS 8042) was nice & roomy - we had a room on left side of ship which gave us a great view leaving Venice. All crew members were very pleasant. Our steward was great, very quick with room cleaning and providing amenities. We elected for first seating in dining room which worked well for the itinerary and our waiter and asst waiter were superb - probably our best-ever over 10 cruises.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite

Cabin JS

JS 8042 was very roomy and well laid out. Only drawback was we were under walkway to Solarium and ping-pong table so had folks clomping overhead during mornings and day. It was quiet late at night.
