Thomson Dream - Yes it is

Sail Date: October 2010
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Other

After the one sided report on watchdog, we were a bit apprehensive about sailing on the Dream but believe me this ship has now been sorted out and there is nothing to worry about. It gets top marks in all departments just as the other ships in the fleet that we have sailed with. We had a two week cruise and stay, Santa Ponsa then a week on the ship. We were all inclusive on board and the AI drink menu is the most comprehensive in the fleet.

Embarkation was straightforward and we were in our cabin in no time. Cabin had a double bed and bath. It was spotless no smell and our cabin steward was very attentive.

The food on the ship is fabulous, one table service restaurant and a couple self service restaurants. All spotless with attentive staff. Selection of food was good and you never need to go hungry - anytime.

The entertainment led by Stephan Guy as Cruise Director was fantastic every night. How that man can sing. His team was on of the best we have seen, More Stephan was evidently proud of them and so he should be.

Overall the cruise was the best we have done and I would not hesitate to recommend the ship and crew. We will go back. Less

Cabin review: Thomson Dream 6111

Cabin 6111 was huge in proportion to the Destiny. Bathroom dated but clean and functional. There was plenty of very hot water - but be quick there are over 1000 on board all taking a shower at the same time for tea. Plenty of hanging space and mini bar available. Free safe and hairdryer. Double bed which can be changed to a twin if you want. Away from lifts and warm.

Port and Shore Excursions

What can you say. I have been here three times and it is great. Well worth a full day in the city.Shops and architecture are wonderful. Visit the fruit/fish indoor market and see how the Spanish do it. All their produce was presented perfectly. We were warned about pick pockets here but we have never seen any problem, but beware.

I have seen cleaner skips. I do not understand how these people can have so little pride in their city. Great port for visits to Pompeii etc.

As with Barcelona this is a great city. Pity that we had an early departure and could not visit though we had a day while on the first week. Some great shops in the older part of the town and you must visit the Cathedral.

Cagliari Sardinia. We went to this port after a day at sea instead of Tunisia due to the lack of fresh water in Tunisia. The port was spotless, some great buildings. Clean and friendly town. Well worth a visit to the shops or just to stroll. A lot of uphill to the top of the town but well worth the effort, the views are magnificent.

Back to Olbia in Sardinia. As with the first port it is clean, friendly and well worth a visit. It has some designer shops but little else. Very typical Sardinia.
