I flew with my daughter and her fiance to Orlando from the UK and we had four days of frenetic activity around the theme parks. By Day 5 we were ready for a bit of relaxation. After dropping our hire car at Tampa airport we caught the Alamo courtesy shuttle bus (a great service!) to the port and were one of the first to check in at around 10.30am. After a speedy check-in and a short wait, we were on the ship by 11.30 and eating lunch in the Unicorn cafe shortly after. Those who checked in later seemed to wait in much longer queues than we did.
Our cabins were ready by 1.30pm - very clean and as spacious as I remembered them from our one previous cruise with Carnival. We were lucky enough to be allocated a cabin with an extended balcony and this was great for sunbathing in privacy. Our luggage followed shortly afterwards and we set off to explore the ship before we set sail. The decor on The Legend is way over the top - very ornate and gaudy - but that just adds to the fun of the cruise. Everywhere was very clean and all of the staff that we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful.
Our cruise consisted of eating (lots!) and relaxing (lots!). We tended to eat buffet breakfast and lunch in the Unicorn cafe and had dinner at the early sitting in the dining room. It took a bit of getting used to the scrum around the buffet lines, but we soon got used to where the different types of food were and where to queue for pizza! On the whole the food in the Unicorn was good, although not always to English tastes. It was good to be able to get a cup of tea whenever we wanted and the hot chocolate was excellent.
