Husband and I along with 2 friends (who actually chose and made the booking) have just returned from 10 nights on Silver Cloud. The cruise was not chosen by us but being aware of the reputation of Silverseas we went ahead with the booking. After reading poor reviews from several sources we were expecting to be slightly disappointed.
However, to summarise briefly, the cabin (suite in cruise ship terms) was larger than the similar one we had on QM2, very clean and, I believe, had certainly been refurbished i.e. sofa, 2 armchairs, tv etc. all very new.
Housekeeping was excellent, butler service very welcome. Dining room manager was extremely helpful in finding us a table that suited 2 of our party who have quite severe hearing problems. We all found the food of good quality and always received additional vegetables etc. when asked for. Probably the highlight of the dining room was the "open kitchen" evening when a buffet was available from the actual kitchen. This was most welcome and was obviously enjoyed by many.
Slight engine vibration but to be expected because of deck level. The only available Veranda suite available when booking made.
37 wooden hangers in our walk in closet - wonderful!
