Far Beyond our Expectations

Sail Date: October 2010
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We live in South Florida so have taken advantage of many cruises departing from Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. This was our second cruise on the Solstice, first time being last February. Celebrity is a master at efficient embarkation procedures - we arrived at the port at 11:30 and were walking the ship by noon. Our stateroom was a veranda forward on deck 7 and we found it immaculate and very comfortable. The bathrooms are among the largest of any of the ships we've taken and not only attractive but functional with room for all your toiletries.

The Ocean Cafe is laid out beautifully with a variety of foods for everyone and the staff very helpful. Noticed them carrying trays for elderly people quite often and actually waiting on them. Service in the main dining room was wonderful and food was of excellent quality and variety. You could have escargot and lobster bisque every night if you wanted which I haven't seen on any other ship except for one night. Also, eggs benedict available More every morning which by the way were the best we've had on any ship bar none. We did not find the need to go to any of the specialty restaurants as the food was so good in the main dining room. We did go to Murano the last time we were on board and that was excellent also.

The Solstice has a new cruise director, a female, who is very personable and also talented. She toured with the cast of Mama Mia for 4 years and has a great voice. The talent on this cruise was pretty entertaining and much improved from last February.

Because of a tropical depression which formed near St. Maarten, we had to change course and the captain took us to Montego Bay which was a nice surprise for some. On other ships when weather conditions change, sometimes they just give you another sea day so this was another nice gesture on Celebrity's part which was noticed and appreciated by many.

I can't say enough good things about the ship and crew - could not find any negatives. Weather was not very good - that's the chance you take cruising in October but we didn't mind - just wanted to relax on board and enjoy the ship. A truly great cruise experience! Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Solstice Deluxe Oceanveiw Stateroom Sunrise Deck (7)

Balcony cabin forward on deck 7. Nice size and very quiet location. Closet ample for 7 days but could've been larger for a longer cruise. Balcony adequate with table large enough to have breakfast on. Full size leather sofa and coffee table nice almost comparable to mini suites on other ships.
