This was our second cruise on Century - last time it was in 2006, immediately following the major refit and there was still a lot of work to be done, as the refurb wasn't finished. Four years on and the gloss of the refurbishment has well worn off and to us the ship looked somewhat tired. We had a lot of heavy rain one day and the rainwater seeped under the balcony doors into a whole row of staterooms on one of the decks where balconies were added in 2006. One day the air conditioning unit fell out of the ceiling above the toilet in our room - glad that neither my husband nor I were sitting there at the time as it weighed a good couple of pounds! Let me say that we had a great time, especially spending time with fellow cruise critics. The staff members are lovely but the famous Celebrity edge seems to have gone. I know I will sound as though I'm moaning but we have sailed with Celebrity eight times now and have always been huge fans and keen to recommend them to friends. Usually my reviews are glowing and so I am really disappointed to have to report what we found this time.

We were in a Concierge stateroom and whilst our attendant kept the room surface-clean, some of it wanted a bit more than just a quick once-over. Even on arrival the wooden arms of the sofa were caked in dust, the bedspread had greasy patches, the little glass table was dirty and the balcony doors were grimy and smeared with fingerprints etc. We had to ask for more shower gel, more room service breakfast forms, more laundry bags, instead of things being replaced once we had used them. After all, the attendant took away the empty shower gel and the laundry and often brought the breakfast. In the past, attendants have usually been more responsive. However, he was a lovely guy.

We were on Select Dining because that was all that was available when we booked the cruise, some five months previously. We ate at 9pm each evening and now think that we must have had the left-overs after seeing fellow cc friends' pics of dinners from the set dining times, which looked much fresher than ours - avocado on a fish starter for us was one slice - brown, opposed to three slices - bright, fresh green! But, the meat was always beautifully cooked and of excellent quality and portion size. The desserts were terrible, but that has been said many times on these boards in recent months - no spun sugar creations and delectable looking puds, but often big slabs of cake - pink, green or brown, cut into slices.

Cabin C1

Position of 9072 is fine - a C1 midship. The only downside is that it is an interconnecting cabin. Our neighbours had reasonably loud voices (though very nice people) and we could hear them talking to each other, though not what they were saying. It was not a big problem, though I wouldn't choose an interconnecting cabin, but it was all that was available.
