Copenhagen - we were in town with half a dozen other ships. Only an Aida ship and Das Shiff were closer. Took maybe 30 minutes to walk into town, maybe a bit more. Taxis and HoHo busses were available on the road beside the ship if you weren't a walker. 
Sun docks on Sunday so not much open early but it was all open later in the day. Didn't bother with Tivoli as it opened latest of all. 
Walked through fort, went to the national museum (very good), a design museum (very ordinary), took a canal cruise (great), visited the statue museum - full of casts of ancient and not so ancient statues, sculptures, friezes (weird). 
Used Danish currency (that we'd bought in the terminal in Dover) and credit card (with chip). 
Enjoyed Copenhagen. 


Copenhagen

Warnemunde - hired a car from Hertz that was delivered to the carpark next to the ship (EUR30 extra for this). Instructions from Hertz were very clear but we didn't read then and messed up. Cost us an hour of our day 
Drove to Lubeck. Weather atrocious and Lubeck disappointing (our thoughts, nothing more). Fun driving on the autobahn at 160kmh. 
Weather cleared when we got back to Warnemunde and had a lovely late afternoon/early evening around the little harbour where the fishing boats are docked. Really good dinner even if we had no idea what we were ordering. 
Area around the fishing port is full of nice restaurants and bars and if the weather was on your side the beach would be lovely. 
Used Euros and credit card (with chip). 
Enjoyed Warnemunde. 


Rostock (Warnemunde)

Tallinn - took HoHo available in carpark in front of dock to get an idea of the city and wider areas and then got off in upper town. 
Two different companies offering their wares. Plenty of taxis as well although can't see need unless you have walking issues as town is very close 
Really interesting town. 
Had lunch at Old Hansa - no reservation needed - and it was a highlight of our whole holiday. 
Bought some rubles for St P at a currency exchange on the dock. 
Walked back to ship. 
Used Euros and credit card (with chip). 
Enjoyed Tallinn. 


Tallinn

Weather was atrocious - wet and windy but not that cold - but St P was fabulous. 
No issues with immigration - they were singularly disinterested - on each occasion we left or came back to ship our immigration officer was on the phone and didn't even look at us. 
We booked the Active C tour with SPb and the two day tour and our guide Elena were fantastic. 
Peterhof was wet and cold and bordering on unpleasant but wouldn't have missed it for the world. Catherine and Yusupov Palaces amazing. Peter and Paul Fortress (and chruch) moving. Hermitage stunning. Church of the Spilled Blood - great mosaics but then we're not into churches. 
We also took the Evening Fun tour with SPb that involved a private canal cruise with much vodka, chocolate and gherkins and it was also great. Poored with rain but was a hoot. 
Saint Petersburg is big and grimy and amazing and mind blowing and you have to go! 
Used some Rubles currency (that we'd bought in the terminal in Dover) and credit card (with chip). 
St P was fantastic, an experience like no other 


St. Petersburg

Helsinki - weather improved greatly and although ship wasn't docked in the inner harbour it was less than 30 minutes away on foot. 
Local bus left from just outside the dock. 
We bussed in and walked back out to the dock. Took ferry out to the fort (very interesting), had lunch including reindeer balls (!!) in the market square with all of the locals, took the 3T tram, went to the Design Museum (great). 
Loved Helsinki, really loved it. 
Used Euros and credit card (with chip). 
Helped that the weather was great as well. 


Helsinki

Stockholm - another NCL minus. Ship anchored at Hynashamn. 
Independents could only collect tender tickets from 7.45 even though ship's tenders were out in the water before 7.30. We were on first tender and on shore and on our way to the station by 8.30. We found out later that when the train was pulling away from the station at 9.05, friends on the first NCL on Your Own bus were wlaking in the Vasa. Three tender platforms - why not one for independents? 
No matter we loved Stockholm even with the hour plus less than we had to explore. 
In hindsight we would have taken the NCL drop off for USD59 each instead of the train. 
The one advantage we did have was two Aussie expats, friends of fellow cruisers, who showed us around the city. Visited Vasa - AMAZING. Walked through Gamla Stan. Went up to the elevator tower from where you got a great panoramic view of the city. 
Wandered up into Nynashamn after getting off the train. Nice town but very quiet. 
Weather again was terrific - shorts and short sleave shirts. Used Swedish currency (that we'd bought in the terminal in Dover) and credit card (with chip). 
Loved Stockholm. 


Stockholm

Cabin 6218 was on Oslo deck.  Deck is only accessible by stairs so is very quiet.  Small but functional with good storage space.  Bathroom had decent shelves for the stuff two guys take with them. Shower curtain did a good job of keeping water in.  Comfiest bed - thickest pad to make two singles a queen - in four cruises.  Old style TV that will most likely be replaced in next years dry dock.

I went out onto deck 6 just after 8am and streams of passengers were leaving the ship from both gangways although there was no moeb=vement in the forward stairwell.Helsinki - weather improved greatly and although ship wasn't docked in the inner harbour it was less than 30 minutes away on foot.
