This is a beautiful ship. 3 years old and so stable you hardly know you're at sea. Our minisuite was wonderful and had a bath which was a first on a cruise for us. The cabin stewards were efficient and very good at their job. Eg: A light bulb went and we informed the steward and by the time we'd had dinner it had been replaced. The food is fine. Plenty of it 24 hours a day if you are that way inclined. The big BUT is the costs involved if you want to eat in one of the speciality restaurants, the price of drinks (from water to brandy) and the cost of excursions. To the new cruiser these costs can be daunting especially if you are unaware that you can do trips yourself. Tha Americans also seemed unaware that they could bring soft drinks and water onto the ship from shore. Just because alcohol is banned, it doesn't mean non-alcoholic drinks are. The price of excursions is extortionate. One trip we took was to Knossos. It cost $70 each and involved (approx) a 20 mile round trip in a coach and a 6euro entrance fee. How bad is that? And don't pay extra for restaurants like the italian- why pay for pizza and pasta when it's on offer every day in the top deck buffet restaurant? The crew, on the whole, are lovely especially the Phillipinos. Also the entertainment is very 1950s. Magicians, balancing acts,a ventriloquist and a Tina Turner act were not of the highest calibre. The ship is spotless and we had a wonderful time. But we are experienced cruisers and know how to avoid the pitfalls. So, be warned and then enjoy!
