Sailed for 7 days on the Solstice on the Eastern Caribbean. Having flown from England we had a couple of days in Fort Lauderdale to start with, short taxi ride to the nearby Port. We arrived about 12.15 and we were onboard by 1245,brilliant check in process. By mid afternoon the cases had arrived and we were settled and ready for the week ahead. Having Cruised on the the RCL Freedom of the Seas the Solstice had a tough act to follow, but in most cases it was just as good. The Cabin was spacious and clean, steward was as good as expected, the ship was very clean and glamorous. The staff outstanding for the whole week and the food awesome, so much to eat in the Buffet. In the evenings we had Anytime Dining and always managed a table for two. The food is very fancy in the restaurant,4 courses. but we got into the descriptive dishes after a couple of days. Slightly rushed in the Anytime dining because they seem to want to keep the turnover going, little disappointing that as at times we wanted a more relaxing meal. We compared the entertainment to the Freedom and for most of it it didnt match up, the Cruise Director was not as funny and some of the performances were just ok. Improved as the week went on with the Solstice De Soleil, that was good. There was a Celebrity artist on but maybe being English we didn't quite get the humour, the Cruise is heavily leant towards Americans, as with some of the daytime activities, like the Lady who worked in the White House. Less to do on this ship than the larger Freedom but plenty of Sunbeds etc to relax on deck and catch the Sun. Considering it was Hurricane Season the weather was perfect, hardly saw any rain or wind at all. Did an excursion around St.Thomas and St.Martin just for a couple of hours, that was enough to see the island and get great photos, then just shopped and relaxed ashore. Disembarking was again very professional and easy, asked for a 945 departure, left the ship freely at 930 and five minutes later we had collected bags and waiting for the Taxi, very quick and professional. I would sail the Solstice again, wonderful service, cleanliness and food, really enjoyed our week.
