Ship Facts: Norwegian Epic Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Norwegian Epic Deck Plans
Our Epic Hanniversary(honeymoon/anniversary combined)
We are just back from our first cruise ever on the Norwegian Epic (sailed Sept 4- 11). Now before you go on ereading this and thinking we will know nothing about wht a REAL crusise ship is I should tell you that my family are very avid crusers and ave heard many things about other cruise lines.

All in all we would rate our trip on the Epic as a B+.

The only Cons we had would be

• Some items in our room were dusty (ie the ice bucket, on back of the bench, bottom of the stools) and this seemed to be over looked for the 7 days we were onboard. • The pools were not what I expected, 2 small pools in main area and one in the spice h20. you could not get near them on sea days, the most we got to COOL OFF in them were on a port day we did not have anything booked. Do not expect to try the water slides the line ups are insane. • 3rd and final con would be that it seemed at suppers if you did not order alcohol that you were served and out the door really fast. We are the type who would like to sit and enjoy a meal and have some time to digest.

Pro's

Despite the negatives we read on here before the trip we found the room to be large enough for the 2 of us. But really you know the room is only 250 sq feet why would you want to share it?

We had no issues with the washroom lay out. Actually the shower was rather large and we always had hot water. The toilet was fine, I could not hear my hubby when he went to pee or anything else for that matter, and for the record he can be the smelliest person when he wants to be when it comes to the bathroom. We had not issues with odor at all.

The sinks we had not problem with.... After ready the reviews from before we just did not turn the tap on bust. Besides the pressure was fine at half.

The bed was comfy, air conditioning was great and all in all we loved the room. and TONS of storage everywhere.

Being a chef and we have a love of food we did [artake in many of the pay restaurants. TRUST ME the $10-$25 you pay is well worth it. You would pay triple at any similar restaurant on land. Our favorite place was the noodle bar. It may be al a carte but filled you up for the night and was great.

To address the complaints about The Cirque Dreams..... we loved it. Yes it was a bit wild and crazy BUT THEY ARE ON A BOAT people..... they can not be like the shows you see in vegas. And the things they done were pretty impressive for the space they had to work in. I for one could have cried a few times by the amazing violinist that plays while you first get your meal. He was amazing. And the aerials with the couple on the silk was beautiful. As for the food I found it to be not so bad. Not like airplane food as I have seen described. I would love to get food like that from air Canada trust me. LOL. Ours was hot, flavorful, cooked just right and loved the filling in the chicken. All in all a one of a kind experience.

If you want to talk about entertainment that was a bit out there.... Focus on the blue men. The percussion parts of the show were amazing, but the in the audience staring you in the face, upper gi video on the big screen, marshmallow drooling art sculptures, captain crunch spitting and twinkie chest explosions..... well I found that all to be a bit much. But like I said the blue men doing the percussion like you think the blue men are... well that was good.

we took part in the mexican cooking class, you have to go. food was great, Chef Louis and his team are funny, OPEN BAR, you eat your 3 course meal that you cooked and then you free regian of the bar and beach afterwards for about 2 hours.

So all in all we enjoyed our time on the epic. Our biggest disappointment would be that we spent 2 nights all gussied up to try and get a nice picture to remember our trip and the photographers just clicked whatever never asking us to fix a flyaway cowlick or anything other thing that would kill a picture. And we did not want to pay $20 for a so so picture.

If you think you would like the epic then go. Do not let anyone turn your mind. You will make it your own as everyone has their own ideas of fun. So if you are like us. Normal people who only get to travel every 10 years, and finally get someone to watch the kids.... Go and have fun. Party hard and make whatever you want EPIC.
