Review of Caribbean Princess: Canada/New England, Aug. 21-28, 2010

Background: Family of three including DD8. We've been on 5 previous cruises on Princess (Alaska), RCCL (Bahamas), Disney (Caribbean), and NCL (Hawaii). We decided to try something different this year and escape the hot DC area summer by sailing north! We have a lot of family in New England so we also thought it would be a fun way to "sail in" for a visit.

Cabin: We only booked in June, so cabin choices were limited, but we went with D110, a mini-suite far forward on Dolphin Deck 9 with an "open to the sky" balcony nearly under the bridge wing. We wanted to be on this (the port) side of the ship, thinking we'd see more of the coastline as we sailed from NYC northwards. (I suppose we would have if not for the rain and fog!) The open balcony was awesome, like having our own piece of the deck. The cabin was nicely decorated and quite spacious, with plenty of storage, tons of hangers, and a roomy bathroom with full tub. The beds were OK for a week, but not the most comfortable; the sofabed for DD had only about a 4" mattress and feet somewhat higher than the head, but she liked having her own "room" (and TV). The dimmable bedside lamps were a nice surprise and quite useful in the evenings. By the way, it took us a few days before we realized that there was an empty electrical outlet behind each TV—great for recharging phones and stuff.

Cabin Review

Cabin AC

Far forward, with balcony about under the bridge wing. Very spacious.
