Awesome Aft Cabin 7463! A Wonderful Dream!

Sail Date: August 2010
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

Most of our expectations were met! We flew in the day before and a family member drove us to the port at about 11:30 am, we had VIP check in for the first time and it was great. We were on board in less than 30 minutes from getting out of the car. When it was time to go to the cabins at 1:30pm our luggage was already at the door and our room was Awesome, we loved the extented aft balcony. It had two chairs and a end table, but no awning if it rains! The view was terrific and we would book this again!! We made friends with our neighbors on both sides and opened the connecting doors by the 2nd day of sailing! Notice: cabin 7461 has no couch in the cabin and it is much smaller, our cabin had lots more room and a couch, also cabin 7465 had even more room than we did, I hope this helps!

The elevators are very slow, the wait is over 10 minutes at times. We took the stairs whenever possible. Ship is nice but they need bigger common areas for the guests to enjoy. The Lido deck could More use a stage for entertainment, they need an adults only pool area, kids invade all the pools & hot tubs, they even tried to go to the serrenity area and were told to leave. Maybe they will get it right on the Magic!!

Most of the staff was wonderful. Our cabin was always clean, had ice as requested. Dinner staff in mdr was the best ever. The photo staff was friendly and the photo system was well organized with a new scan your card to find your photo system. Watch out in the casino, I caught the dealers making mistakes on the roulette table and blackjack, they were not paying attention and would pull your bet when you won. I had to tell them several times that they needed to pay me. The pit boss was nice and then they pulled the dealer, but this happened two different nights with different dealers!

Overall we had a wonderful cruise and already have another Carnival Cruise booked on the Spirit next year. I still need to try other Carnival class ships to find my favorite one. It's what you make it that counts and we had a BLAST!!! Oh and our cruise director "Butch" was the best cd we had ever sailed with!!! He made everyone feel so special, thank you BUTCH!!!! Less

Cabin review: Carnival Dream Balcony Empress 7463

Cabin 7463, aft-extended balcony: room was great size with a couch & small table, lots of closet space, very quiet, some rumbles when pulling into port for a few minutes, no big deal. Balcony is not covered, one chair, one chair that reclines to a short lounge & one end table. Dividers are at an angle, you will meet your neighbors. FYI: Cabin 7461 next to us was much smaller with no couch or table, but they had a lounge chair on the balcony and the balcony was a little bigger, maybe 3 - 4 feet wider, but all were same depth. Cabin 7465 on our other side had more room in cabin by about 2 feet between couch and night stand. We also saw cabin 7459 (corner, cat 9) had no couch and was smaller that ours, that was a big shock!

Port and Shore Excursions

Shore Excursions: We booked them from the ship, felt safer that way since we had never done these ports before.

Cozumel was Dolphin Trainer, we were the only two people, so it was like a private tour. We had a great time, it was clean, well kept and the staff and dolphins were fun and friendly, but then they tried to sell us photos and video for $349.00 (%@#!) yes that's what I thought!!! If you go, than have your own family take photos while you do the excursion. They made us put our cameras away, now I know why!

Costa Maya was Mini Jeep Rhino, it was fun, but not what was offered. We were in part jungle and needed lots of bug spray, you wore helmets and bandannas, it was a bit muddy. Then we drove along the coast, very nice, but we did not go to any type of "resort area" and there was no hour of swimming, hammocks, water-beds, etc. as offered. We just stopped at there home base for a drink and a few chips and salsa. Would not do this one again!

Belize we did the Air-boats and that was lots of fun. The staff was very entertaining and they made sure you saw wildlife along the way, this was a must do!!!

Roatan we just did the Mahogany Bay with the flying beach chairs, it was lots of fun, but I wanted to get a cabana and they were sold out. It was very crowded since Carnival had two ships in that day. It was just too many people for that area. The bars were so crowded and it was difficult to get a drink from the bar, they did not have enough staff to work the large crowd.
