Carnival Inspiration - Western Caribbean

Sail Date: October 2004
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Tampa

Embarkation was a little slow due to being helped by a new person who was still in training but overall easy. We got there about 1:30 and boarded about 2:45 p.m.

Our first impression of the ship was absolute awe! (Our first cruise!) The ship was well kept, we saw workers cleaning all the time. Our cabin was nice, there was four of us, we had plenty of room for all of our belongings. The bathroom was bigger than I expected, and there was lots of samples left for us.

My 7 yr old son, and 9 yr old nephew loved Camp Carnival, they had lots of activities for the kids. Our only complaint, they are only open for certain blocks of time and that can get very annoying when you want to do/see something, so plan accordingly. The arcade was also a favorite. They loved the pool slide also.

We had a total of eight in our group and were able to get seated together in the Carnivale dining room, which is very lovely and our wait team Christopher & Christopher More (yes, same names) were great!! I wish all restaurants had service like this. Almost every night we each had two starters and entree's. We had way more food then we could have ever eaten but they wanted us to try everything!! The breakfast buffet in the Brassier was great, as was the LIDO buffet of burgers & hot dogs. The kids loved the pizzeria and ice cream and they had a sandwich bar but we never used that. We did room service A LOT and the BLT's are GREAT!! Not a big selection but it is adequate.

Our ports had to be re-arranged twice but it all worked out well in the end. Our first stop was Cozumel, which is an ok spot but we were taken back by the shop owners. After a few hours we were used to their begging and trying to drag us into their shops. We managed to get some good deals once we learned how to haggle with them....

Next port was Costa Maya, I liked this port, because of the pool that was right there by the shops. We went to the Chocchoben Mayan Ruins here $45 for adults, $22.50 for children. It was a small site and took about an hour to see all of it. In the heat that was plenty of time! We went into the fishing village Mahalhul, nice beach, but the same little shops selling the same items as all the others. Back at the main port we ate at Bandito's. The food was great and the drinks were some of the best I've ever had! (I HIGHLY suggest the PAI AI.)

Next was back to Cozumel, due to a problem at the port in Calica. This time we choose to go to Senor Frog's, and boy was this a good idea. We had so much fun there, make sure you do a shot!!

We did see a few of the shows at night. They were all great singers/dancers and were good, just not exactly my style, but none the less good entertainment. My favorite was the Adult comedy shows!! Most of the bars were good, just not a lot of action while we were onboard, due to a 400 person group of elders.

All in all it was great, we can't wait to go again and i hope this review may help you in some way. Less
