Ship Facts: Carnival Inspiration Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Inspiration Deck Plans
Carnival Inspiration - Western Caribbean
Cruise on the Inspiration

We decided several months ago to go on the Inspiration with some friends. Our background is 12 cruises on several lines, 5 previous on Carnival (this is the newest Carnival ship we have been on). Our friends were first time cruisers. Due to financial reasons we booked a category 1A with the anticipation of being upgraded and our friends booked with a friend's part. They were give a 3 category upgrade and we weren't, so much for the past passenger mystique.

Our cabin had upper and lower berths but the room steward brought in a roll away which worked. The category 1A was larger than some of the other rooms we have had on other cruise lines. Our dinner reservations were messed up and the staff QUICKLY resolved them. Overall the ship's staff rates an A+ for service.

The Ship

This is similar to the Fantasy but seems to be outfitted in darker colors. We needed a flashlight on the elevators to see what buttons to push. Overall the public areas seemed to be darker than other ships we have been on.

The Food

The restaurant food was good and there were ample selections at dinner. The lunch selections were limited and the entrees on the buffet were also limited. Pizza, made to order sandwiches, salad bar, hot dogs, and hamburgers made up for the lack of selections at the buffet.

The Ports

Cozumel - our 5th time there and we shopped. Costa Maya where else can you go to a Mexican Mall? There was entertainment but we elected to go into the little town and it was interesting. Dirt road and like stepping back into time. Our port call in Calise was changed at the last moment and we went back to Cozumel. We wanted to go to Xcaret bur it would cost about $30 extra and 3 hours to go from Cozumel. I am writing a letter to Carnival on this.

Embarkation was easy and on the ship in about an hour. Debarkation was a 2 hour affair and was not well planned.

Overall a good cruise and we would do it again except for Cozumel.
