Princess did it once again!! The most awesome cruise line gave us an awesome adventure in the most awesome state in the union, Alaska! This was our third cruise with Princess for a reason, they just flat out do everything with class; beautifully designed ships, great food and entertainment, very friendly and courteous staff, and a routine that keeps everything flowing smoothly. The lodges at both Denali and Mt. McKinley were beautiful, but I believe we leaned toward McKinley a little more due to it's remoteness. Being off of the beaten path, ( no tourist traps across the street), made it seem like we were truly in the 'north woods'. The Princess Rail between Fairbanks and Denali and also between McKinley and Whittier was a highlight of our trip. This was a first train experience for my husband and me, and we thoroughly enjoyed the rides. The staff on board both rail cars that we were assigned to were very friendly and quite knowledgeable about the areas that we were traveling through. Finally, the Coral Princess! As I stated earlier, this was not our first cruise with Princess, nor will it be our last. Some of the other cruise lines out there would do well to take a few lessons from these pros. Everything from food, to entertainment, to friendly and helpful staff,to the tasteful decor made this ship special. We chose Anytime Dining and were certainly not disappointed. The Horizon Court always had food to offer that would fit anyone's taste buds at both breakfast and lunch; and on the mornings that we had nothing scheduled early, we enjoyed breakfast on our balcony. We would make reservations most evenings for the Bordeaux Dining Room and thoroughly enjoyed the variety of food offered there also. We thought that a good variety of entertainment was made available to passengers. Jay Johnson, the comedian, was a treat and when it wasn't too awfully cold, we enjoyed wrapping up under blankets for a night at Movies Under The Stars. The daytime was full of places to keep busy also; Casino, Internet Cafe, Trivia & Bingo games, the Library, or just finding a quiet spot to sit and read afforded everyone something to do. Loved the location of our cabin, B418. We like the Baja deck the best because of the balconies; no one can look down on you from above so they are quite private. Also, the room was just big enough for two people to share, and we were close to the elevators. Our room steward, Morris, wasn't as attentive as some we've had in the past, but if we ask for anything he made sure to provide it. Quite surprisingly there is ample storage space in these rooms also. As to the itinerary, everywhere we either cruised or stopped in Alaska was perfect. Hubbard Bay and Glacier Bay cannot even be described well enough to do them justice! This state is definitely one that everyone should add to their "bucket list"! Thank you, Princess, for the trip of a lifetime!!
