The Fantasy is an older boat in OK condition but one of the pools was removed to provide space for the so called Water Park. There are 2 straight slides and one corkscrew slide. The corkscrew slide has too many turns and not enough water so you stop partway through it! The steps are very high and too many and the stair treads are metal. Most rides require a 15 minute or more wait on hot metal steps - unless you can do the hot foot dance for 15 minutes, don't try this slide.
Basically, the kids get bored with the Water Park and want to go to the main pool. On sea days, it is impossible to even get in the main pool and do anything other than stand shoulder to shoulder with your neighbor. There is also a shortage of chairs around the pool. Most days require finding a chair on one of the sun decks which then requires a long walk to the "standing room only" pool to cool off.
The food is OK - not as good as on Holland America or Princess. There is plenty of it but just not as tasty as on other cruises. Baked potatoes come plain. If you want sour cream or any other toppings you have to ask and by the time they arrive, the potato is cold. Formal lobster night features lobster and shrimp as the signature dish. They also have a beef dish, but in order to get "Surf and Turf" you have to order 2 entrees both of which come with all the sides. It is impossible to do substitutions. They are more than happy to bring you the substitution but are unable to remove the item you are substituting. If you want rice in place of boiled potatoes, you have to have the boiled potatoes on the main plate with the rice as a separate item. The table gets full of extra dishes.
Lighting is horrible to non existent. No lights at all over the desk which is the only place you can plug in a hair dryer. Three females in the cabin had difficulty getting ready for dinner. Not enough hangers - you have to double hand most of your clothes.
