My wife and I decided to take advantage of the convenience of the Carnival Pride as we live in suburban Baltimore. We cruised from August 15-21 and are 35 and 33, married with no kids. We had an awesome time. The ship, the crew, the weather, everything was just great. We would certainly sail on the Pride again.
Let me start with our favorite part of the trip. We read about the "Chef's Table" in a prior review and had already decided that we wanted to do that before we got to the boat. If you are going to sail on the Pride, you have to do the Chef's Table. It's not for kids, as the experience is a four hour one. Chef's Table costs $75 per person and they do it twice per cruise. It starts with a tour of the galley during the first dinner seating. You will eat some of the best finger foods you will ever have and be amazed by the way the galley works. Next they take you to an "undisclosed location" on the ship where you get served a 7 course meal, with Chef Ramesh detailing each course as it comes out. He chooses his very own "Chef All-Star Team" to serve the meal to you. Wine is included and there are extra gifts. Chef's Table was by far our favorite activity and 100% worth the extra charge. It's a very fun evening for you and 12 other cruisers. Go in hungry, you will leave full. If you love food, trust me, this is an event for you.
I know Carnival has no control over the weather, but we got very lucky on our trip. The seas were calm and almost smooth for the entire trip. The largest waves we saw were MAYBE 3 feet. The ride was smooth and fast.
We thought the cabin was small when we first saw it, but as the week went on, we realized that it was plenty big enough for what we needed. Having a balcony was awesome.
